I woke up this morning soaked with Blood and all day I have gone through about a pad an hour or every hour and a half depending on what I am doing. I just finished my first round of natural porgesterone injections. I called my docs office and the nurse said she wouldnt worry unless it kept up for a few days!? Its gone on all day and I have horrible cramps. Is this a normal thing that happends after progesterone injections? Im doing them because I have a very think lining. PLEASE SOMEONE RESOPOND!!!! I am freaked out!!!
thick lining or thin lining? if thick, then it would make sense. I have bled like that before, and while it is freaky, as long as it doesn't go on more than a day or two, I wouldn't worry too much.

A few months ago, I could soak an overnight maxi in an hour or less. I went to the gyno and he said it was NORMAL!! I was like wtf? It wasn't normal for me at all. I bled like that for about 3-4 days and then it just stopped. I would try not to worry about it too much.

this kind of bleeding happens to me. crazy, i know! keep track of it and make sure it slows down or call your doc. if you are just starting proge. that could be it. i noticed with a new med i'm taking, the bleeding is very heavy. change in meds can do that. fun fun.
Ok, if you are newly diagnosed, and have been skipping periods, it is likely that you have built up a thick uterine lining and are just sloughing it off. Here are some guidelines to help you track when bleeding is considered excessive. Just because it is considered excessive for one woman, however, doesn't mean that your doctor won't tell you it's normal for you... especially if the situation I mentioned above has occurred.
Menstrual flow that soaks through one or more sanitary pads or tampons every hour for several consecutive hours
The need to use double sanitary protection to control your menstrual flow
The need to change sanitary protection during the night
Menstrual periods lasting longer than seven days
Menstrual flow that includes large blood clots
Heavy menstrual flow that interferes with your regular lifestyle
Constant pain in your lower abdomen during menstrual periods
Tiredness, fatigue or shortness of breath (symptoms of anemia)
As a side note, I have been experiencing a period from hell this week myself. Large, golf-ball sized clots (sorry if TMI) and when I called my doctor he told me not to worry, that it was my body getting rid of a built up lining. If I saw this again next month, he would agree to see me to make sure there wasn't a problem. Keep some Midol handy, chocolate, a romance novel, and a carbonated beverage of some sort and you'll get through it! Good luCK!
Pandoura, I am laughing at some of the guidelines on that list.... periods that interfere with regular lifestyle? Isn't that most of the time?? Lying in bed with a heating pad, curled up in the fetal position in pain isn't exactly my lifestyle. ;-) That's funny.

I bleed like that if I go for 9-10 months without a period... ugh. My doctor told my that my estrogen/porgesterone levels just go up, up,up with no O to make it go down and therefore making the lining thicker and thicker. So, with you taking porgesterone and having more than normal in your body builds up the uterine lining the same way as just going a year without a period like me, I am guessing. It should slow after 2-3 days... if not, call the doc again. More than a few days is not normal.

It's not funny. Your period isn't supposed to make you risk losing your job or fail out of school, which, could be very possible for myself and some others I know who suffer from this type of thing. Even if it happens only once in a while, I think it's serious if you feel it's serious, and any doctor (in my opinion anyway) who says it's normal and doesn't rule out more serious problems or try to stop the heavy bleeding is doing you a disservice. I also want to point out that with this amount of blood coming out, we are at risk for other blood related issues besides just reproductive/sexual ones.
Like others have said, it could be normal and it should slow down in a day or two. I've experienced something similiar, but mine usually lasts for several hours, before slowing down for a few hours, then heavy again....in a cycle like that. When I'm having those days, I try to pay very close attention and watch for signs of dehydration and anemia...drink lots of water, and eat iron-rich foods. I also try to avoid driving if I can, since sometimes heavy blood loss like that will make me light headed and dizzy. If you start to experience signs of anemia, or if it hasn't slowed down in a day or two, you need to see your doctor right away.

I don't think she meant funny ha-ha but funny ironic. There is nothing funny about the bleeding and pain because people at work or school don't understand what we are going through.
