I saw on a web site that Canadian adoptions to China are cheaper than in the U.S. This website also stated that the adoptions to China run around the range of $16,000 to $18,000. This is because the adoption agencies are mostly non-profit. I have researched two agencies in Ontario so far and one quoted (on their web site) $20,000 and the other $20,000 - $22,000.
So obviously the last two are "for-profit". Does anyone have information on an agency that charges less than $20,000?
If you live in Canada, can you adopt using an agency from another province?
Our agency here in the US is not for profit.. I don't know what the exchange rate is anymore, but here is a cut and paste from their website showing our costs in USD:
1. The estimated total cost of the China Adoption but not including travel is: $11,920.00
2. The estimated total cost of China adoption and travel for two is: $17,120.00
This does not include INS application fee, local home study, fees for certification and authentication from Chinese Embassy, or post-placement reports.

Like Brandy, I'm in the US but Amy (DNA) is in Canada and adopting from China so she'd be able to help you out...maybe she'll drop in
I'm pretty sure all the adoption agencies that work w/ China have to be non-profit but the costs vary b/c of what the adoption agency provides. Like our agency does all the authenticating, certifying, etc. for us so there's more work for them among other things.
Also, here in the US we can use any agency w/in the US so I would definately find out if it's the same in Canada.
Good Luck!
