Question How much Fiber?

do you need if met makes you not go? I've seen several ladies post about having to take plenty of fiber, and I think I need to start doing this. So, how much and how often? TIA!!!

The DV of fiber is 25 grams. A serving of veggies tends to be 2-3g, and if you work in a fiber-rich cereal in the morning, you could get 5-11g there. Fruit is also a good source. One of my favorite things are the Mission Carb Smart whole wheat tortilla wraps. For 80 cal and 12g carbs, you get 8g fiber. My doctor suggested it because it keeps blood sugar more constant, so there isn't a rollercoaster effect. It also lowers cholesterol, which is another problem area for me.

As for met making me not go, I've noticed that too. Although I will say, the first few days I was on it, I had to go too much, and that was not pleasant.

Exactly! First too much, then just right, now its progressed to not enough. I also have high cholesterol, does supplement fiber help with that also? I'm currently having strawberries, oatmeal, pears, oranges (all high fiber) every day and while it isn't helping the met symptom, i'm hoping it is helping to lower my cholestrol. My appt. is Monday for a recheck and I hope to see a difference. Thanks for the reply!

In three months I reduced my cholesterol 45 points in three months by simply increasing fiber intake and decreasing cholesterol intake (cutting out red meats and fried foods). I didn't try any suppliments, so I don't know how simple/effective they are. Good luck on Monday!
