Default How much hair will fit under a wig?

I'm thinking of buying a wig just to see how I like it. My hair is currently chin length and although I definitely notice the thinning, I don't think other people do. I would say that I still have an average amount of hair (for a thin-haired person), but my bangs and hairline are what's thinning most, which is why I'm thinking of wigs and not hairpieces or extensions.

My question is: how much hair fits under a wig? I don't want to cut mine, but I don't want it to be noticeable. I'm thinking of buying this style: http://www.wigs.com/product_info.php?products_id=3584

I have a LOT of hair...very thick and shoulder length, and can get it under wigs just fine. The trick is to part it and braid it to take the 'volume' down.

I forgot to add...if your braids are long, 'wrap' them around your head, and secure them with bobby pins...then put the wig on.

I was curious about that too. Kat has all the answers...hehe. I'm in the process of purchasing a wig. I was looking at the same style you were but I decided to avoid the shorter bang with my face shape. It's a great style though. I'm ordering

Wigs.com - The Wig Experts: Shilo by Noriko

I'm sad that I'll be putting my natural hair away but I'm also relieved at the same time. i dread sunny days because my scalp is so visible and I have rainy-day-phobia. Now I just have to choose a color..hehe. Good luck with your purchase.

Dont know if you gals know or not, but wigs.com does a 110% price match. So if you find it cheaper on another website, just call them and they will match the price + 10% of the difference.

I ordered the Angelica-G from them and price matched with cocoswigboutique.com. The have the regular Angelica for 85.00 on cocos.

The wig itself is gorgeous, but I did not like it on me. I wish I had, it is so pretty.

Thanks, volsfan199! What does the "G" stand for in a wig name?

HI, some of their wig styles have a choice between regular and gradient colors.

Regular is the same color throughout. Gradient colors (which is what the G
stands for) have darker "roots", where it looks like the hair on the part line is darker than the rest. And they have a whole different color chart for the gradient colors.

Hope this helps.

Veggiegirl,
I will definitely let you know how it goes. I will most likely be ordering one this week.

Christina,
Woohoo! Thanks for the info. That is going to save me a lot of money. I'm going to buy a wavy/curly style in the same length and color if I like the first one. I might even get a lighter color for Spring/summer and a darker color for fall/winter so this information will save me a bunch. Thanks so much!

Kelly,

Glad to help. I have only ordered once from wigs.com, but they are really nice and helpful. When I was price matching, she had to ask what website it was on, and all that. When she seen how much it was on cocos, she said, "Wow", and then proceeded to do the transaction. I asked if I could price match again at a later time, and she said, You sure can.

They have a price calculator on the home page so you can see how much you will be paying (it is on the right side of the page).

Take care,

Christina

Part of my job is selling wigs/doing wig fittings.
You'd be really surprised how much hair you can get under a wig. haha

Kat had great suggestions! If you don't want to take the time to braid your hair, buy a wig cap (only $5) and put that on before the wig. It keeps your hair flat, and it also helps the wig to stay in place. You can also use bobby pins to secure some of the hairs toward the front (bangs and such) so they don't pop out.

Also!
The Noriko Shiloh is an awesome wig. The scalp looks really natural.
Most Noriko wigs are pretty good. The ones in the lower price bracket sometimes have weird scalps, but I know from experience that the Shiloh is awesome.

Kelly, I also wanted to let you to look around other wig websites, you may find the Shiloh cheaper than the website I suggested. I found one here

http://www.loriswigsite.com/noriko_med-long.html

and placed it into my cart and it was 189.00.

Look around, though, you may be able to save even more.

You guys are the best!

Christina,
I did some searching and I was able to find shilo for $149. You just saved me lots of money. Thanks so much for taking time to look!

Sweetly,
I was concerned how real it would look, especially in a longer style. Now I just hope it looks right on me. I will definitely purchase a cap because I will be wearing the wig daily and I have no time to braid with my little guy. I had some other wig related questions and I'd appreciate your help. I was wondering how important fit is? My measurement is on the larger side of average. Is that an issue with an average wig? They don't make many wigs in larger sizes. And how durable are wigs like Shilo? How much daily use can I get before having to replace it? One more...how easy is it for a wig to come off if it's pinned on well, say by a 6 month old?

Thanks,
Kelly
