I have been taking 1500mg for the last 4 and ahalf years or so, and want my dr to up it to 2000mg but he won't, because he says that I am not obese. Which I think is stupid, my hormones are not in check at all because my hair is falling out badly ( more recently) and I could grow a full beard in about a week if I didn't shave EVERY morning.
I currently weigh 150 lbs, I am 5' 3" tall.
Could you guys help me prove a point that not only overweight cysters need higher doses of met. Let me know your weight, height and dosage.

Hi! I am 5'4", 136lbs, thin cyster and non-I/R... currently taking 1,000mg and working my way up to 2,000mg. My Dr says that 2000mg is the recommended dose for PCOS, no matter your situation.

I don't know how much I can help. I am overweight, right now. However, even when my weight was normal (around 130 lbs) I took the same amount of metformin that I do now. I am non-IR, too.
Currently, I am 5'6" and weigh 176 and take 2500mg.

I'm starting met today. I'm 5'3" and 261 lbs. My prescription is for 500 mg once a day. The rx was written for 3 mos. Do you think the doc is easing (VERY SLOWLY) into a higher dose? Is there anyone only taking 500 mg a day?
I'm thinking I'm going to have to call the doc's office in a couple of weeks, assuming I can handle the side effects, to ask if I can increase the dose. 1500-2000 mg seems to be the norm...
I had a drs appt yesterday and they finally upped my dose to 2000mg after about 4 yrs of being on 1500mg.
