Hello all. I was told I had PCOS about a week ago after having almost every symptom (missed periods, mood swings, acne, hair, can't lose weight, you know, the usual). My gyno started me on Yasim which I will start with my next period. I was just wondering what all it's going to do for me. I know the regular period and better acne (hopefully) but I was wondering if there was anything else that the Pill is going to help. I know you feel bloated for awhile but does being on it help anyone lose weight because their hormones are in check? I also tend to be really muscular. Will that change at all? Will my emotions be better on the yellow pills? Any straightforward advice about how my body is going to change on the Pill would be much appreciated.
I have been on Yasmin for the past 8 months and it definitely helps! I went 2 years without a period and I have been regular even since my endo put me on Yasmin. It does help with your mood though--it helped me feel more balanced and it helped my mood. I will admit though that after being on Yasmin for a while I get headaches when on the white pill becasue of the lack of estrogen. I don't know if this is true for everyone, but after being on Yasmin for like 3 months I dropped 15 pounds in about 1 month. My endo ran a whole bunch of tests too b/c she was concerned about the weight loss and she found nothing wrong. I don't have any problems with the bloating...but I do have trouble with losing my scalp hair so I am in the process of talking to me endo about that right now. But as for emotions and moods it definitely helped!! I actually feel like a normal person now...which is definitely an awesome feeling!! If you have anymore questions--feel free to ask!! Have a blessed day!
Well, I started Yasmin 3 weeks ago so I haven't gotten the full benefit yet but here is what I notice so far.
My moods are better
sex drive has gone down but it was really really high anyway
losing a little more hair on my head
When I went to my doc I was having crazy symptoms from hormones like racing heart, and so far I am starting to feel better and I am impressed w/how much calmer I feel.
I guess the rest is a waiting game since it hasn't been that long for me but I have all the PCOS symptoms you mentioned so fingers crossed it helps us both!
I am not on Yasmin, but I am on another brand of BCP and let me say, it is AWFUL to be off them! I am so much happier on them -- I feel so much better about myself physically and emotionally.

I just started my second pack of Yasmin. After having my period for a month, once I stopped the white pills, my period finally stopped (my doc thinks it was due to not having a period for 4 months and taking so much provera to induce it). I've noticed that my hair, on my head, has actually grown over an inch in the past month (weird). I just started laser, so I'm not sure how much the Yasmin has contributed to my hair reduction (face, lower back, etc)...but there certainly has been a significant reduction. Also, my skin has completely cleared. I have to say, my mood hasn't been very stable. I'm hoping that my body finally adjusts. Now on my second pack of active pills I feel pretty normal.
I also noticed that after having my period and being on the Yasmin, the area between my belly button and "down there" is definitely looking flatter and less swollen. I always seemed to have almost a "gut" there which was incredibly unflattering in every way imaginable. Anyone else notice this?
I don't weigh myself because I find it too traumatizing, but I feel lighter lol.
