Default How much is too much Vit B?

I'm loosing hair like mad. I'm on Biotin suppliments now (which has some vit Bs). I'm thinking of adding a Vitamin B complex too? But I'm concerned too much vitamin B may be harmful. Any advice ladies?

thanks

You can't get too much Vitamin B. Vitamin B is a water soluble vitamin so it is wasted through urine. Same with Vitamin C. Your body gets rid of what it doesn't need. If you take a B complex you'll notice your pee might turn neon colors. That's your body getting rid of the excess B. Water soluble vitamins pass through your system quickly and consequently need to be replenished throughout the day (unless you take an extended release, which is what I do).

Now vitamins E and A, however, are fat soluble, meaning they are stored in fat tissue. You don't need large quantities of those vitamins daily. You could take them every other day and you would be safe. Vitamin A can be toxic in large doses.

Hope this helps.

If you're going to start taking a B vitamin complex make sure it contains nicainamide rather than niacin. Essentially both are vitamin B3 - one is just in a different form (amide form). Niacinamide is better for those of us with PCOS as it helps with insulin issues.
I can't remember the biochemical reason behind it sorry but I'm sure if you googled you would find a page that explains the exact reason why.

Also you'll know how much is too much Vit B - your pee will be bright yellow/green.

If you are on met, try and take the supplements between your met (ie if you are taking met every 5 hours, take your supplement 2.5 hours after you take your met) to ensure maximum absorption.

I am glad that somebody asked this. I had been wondering if you could take too much. Glad to see that you can't!
