I've been on Glucophage XR since November. I've lost about 45 lbs so far. My main exercise is walking 3-5 miles a day. There are some days I can't get out so I do it on my treadmill. I haven't had any bad side effects from the medication but there are several who have. I started out with 500mg/day for the first week then worked my way up to 1500mg/day. Good luck. I hope it works for you.

I was on Met starting in September. In November, I had a gyno appointment and weighed in at 254. In January, I had an endo appointment and weighed 241 All of this was done with absolutley no exercise or dieting. And, I was only on 1000mg. I have since upped the dosage to 1500 and havent lost a pound

After 2 years on the drug, 40 pounds or so gone here too.

I reccommend also taking it with food...and avoiding high carb foods...helps the side effects big time for me.

All the best!

I've been on the met for 3mos, since May. I have lost 29lbs so far. I eat low carbs and no sugars. I do not excersize like I should so Ive started walking every day. I think that will help the weight come off even more!

Good luck and stick with it. It does get easier with time and you'll feel great! Not to mention being healthier too!

Best wishes!

p.s. Im on 1500mg metformin.

Default Weight

I was 147 almost three years ago at 5'0 the weight was piling on. I am now 119. This is the weight that I should have always been. I think the IR portion of PCOS finally caught up with me at 34. I was diagnosed at 21 with no weight problems. I lost 20 lbs and tremendous water retention in two months with no diet change or exercise. I have now realized that I MUST change my diet to feel "normal". After changing my diet drastically absolutely no refined sugars I have continued to drop my weight and am at a good weight for my height. I will be on Glucophage XR the rest of my life. This drug is amazing!

Blessings!

Candace

I've only been on met for a week but I can say that it broke my stall! I was hovering between 174 and 175 for about a month and suddently I'm at 171-172 after just a week. Obviously it could be something else that did it, but so far so good.

I've been on 1500 mgs a day of met for a year now. I just went back to the dr and she was very impressed at my 16lb weight loss with no diet or exercise changes. I was upped to 2000 mgs at that appt because my insulin level is still high. I really need to buckle down and start getting better at diet and exercise as I know that will only help the met work better.

I only had one s/e when I first started taking met and it only lasted a few weeks - diarreah (which I didn't hate because I usually have the opposite problem ).
