Its not horrible, but if I have another year like this, I will disappear into nothing! Anyone else having this problem? Did weight loss taper off eventually? Did your Dr. change doseage/diet instructions to stop weight loss?

Second time, its hard to say since I was postpartum, but I did get down to 107 which was slightly underweight for being 5'4.5" and the third time I got down to 112. My doctor wasn't concerned and I was still able to conceive. |

My Mood: Points: 279.13 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 279.13 | Hi guys; thought I would post on this one too since I am new to the forum (just signed up yesterday) and I have been taking 2000mg Metformin since June 5, 2007 ( I remember bc it's my bday!) and went back to my doctor last month to get the dosage increased to 2500 mg. I have lost about 16 pounds since June, but I think it's a combination of the horrible side effects ( I still have GI problems on some days) and I have a metallic taste in my mouth all the time so I end up eating less bc the food does not taste the way I thought it would. I had a BMI of about 26.2 (slightly overweight) but now my BMI is 25 so in the normal range. I am a little concerned with more weight loss, especially ttc, but I trust that my doc will know what to do. He did tell me that hopefully once we are pregnant, I will stay on 2500mg Met. to help reduce the chance of miscarriage, so that will be fun.... I have found also that I end up craving healthier foods (more salads, more fruits and veggies, etc, and overall I am eating much less than I did before.) |

And certain smells make me nauseas. I still eat meat but not as often. I seem to want peaches and apples with peanut butter all the time! |

My Mood: Points: 1,076.51 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,076.51 | Since I've been on Met (June '07), I've lost about 15-18 lbs. I'm 5'8" and now weight about 117. I'm worried that Met is actually going to cause new problems (such as not ovulating because I don't weight enough). It's frustrating when Met's supposed to help, but then doesn't make you want to eat as much, causing the weight loss to be more than you expected. I have a doctor's appointment at the end of November, and I'm really going to have to ask a lot of questions about whether or not Met's actually doing any good--I still haven't ovulated since I've been on the medication. Getting very frustrating... |

I was ovulating on my own and not able to get pregnant (not super regular, but not too bad either) so I have a theory that the met made my ovulations stronger or better. I've gotten pregnant all three times in the same amount of time, so I don't think its a coincidence (you look at see whatever month I start my met in is the month I give birth the following year!) Each time I've been on it, its been a different dose, but most people are on the 1500-2000 mg these days. Not everyone will lose weight on it, but I know I do. I was never tested for IR. |

Like I've said a million times, I don't know if Met ultimately helped me get pg or not, since I was also on the Clomid, but I did get pg within2 months of upping my Met from 1500mg to 2000mg. I still never got AF once while taking Met, but who knows...

The NP didn't seem concerned at all, she said my body wouldn't let me waste away. The worst part about it for me is that it just seemed to be a very visible reminder of our TTC woes. Now that I'm pg it's great because I'll be able to hide this pg longer since all my pants are way too big on me ... LOL ...

Like everyone else said, I craved healthier foods. At first it was just that I didn't want to deal with the GI probs that could ensue if I ate too much fat, but after I while I just genuinely craved healthy things. I didn't even want any junk.
Except sweet & sour chicken. I never stopped wanting that
