Default How often can you take Provera?

Brief history - No AF since 10/2007 until April of this year. I bled for 2 months straight, everyday. In September I had another cycle. It was so heavy that I was soaking more than a pad an hour and had to end up wearing infant diapers it was so much. I went to the ER because I was weak and ended up being anemic.

The dr gave me Provera to stop the bleeding. 7 days after my last pill, the bleeding came back and was super heavy. Took Provera again, bleeding stopped, 7 days later, I'm bleeding again and it's heavy.

It's like I've started an endless cycle. If I take Provera again, then 7 days later I'll start bleeding again, but I know if I take it again, the bleeding will stop and that's all I want at this point.

Is there a such thing as too much Provera? This time the dr wants me to take 4 BCP a day, that seems like too much. Anyone else had a similar experience?

Sorry so long and if TMI, but I would really appreciate anyone sharing their experiences. I'm at a lost. Thanks.

I didn't know provera was given to stop bleeding. I was only on it to start bleeding. I've seen a few posts on here explaining they took different amounts of BCP's to stop bleeding though. Sorry not much help...Hope someone can answer your questions better.

I didn't know it either until last month. From what I understand of it now, is that if you're bleeding Provera will stop the bleeding, but you will then start bleeding again the usual 7-10 days after the last pill and if you are not bleeding then Provera will start the bleeding.

I just wish my body will get under control.
