How often and how much if you take Met or Glucophage? ..(m)
Hi Girls,
I am new to the board- can't believe I never saw this before! I am currently taking Metformin 1000mg and am upping it to 1500mg and am curious as to how you take it. For ex. 500mg 3 times a day or 500mg in the am and 1000mg in the pm?

Welcome to cysters..... In answer to your question, I usually take 1000 mg with breakfast, as long as I remember. If I forget it then I make sure I take it with one of my other meals. I'm only taking 1000, i had to go down when I had surgery a couple of months ago, and I haven't upped it yet.

I am taking 1500mg of Gluc XR in the morning with breakfast. I have (cross my fingers) have side effects so far. I will take it for 6 months and see if it works.

Welcome! I take Metformin 500 mg x3 daily. Usually 8 am, 1 pm and 6 pm...give or take.

Welcome to SC!!! If you're taking met, it is not a time release version like the Gluc XR...so you'll want to spread the dosage out throughout the day. I take 2000mg/day, 1000 in the am and 1000 about late afternoon to evening.

I take three tablets of metformin per day, spaced out pretty evenly and taken with food or at least a glass of milk. I have been a lucky cyster with virtually no side effects and lots of rewards!

I take Glucophage, so I usually take 1000 mg around 10 am and then 1000 mg again at 10 pm. I try to eat a little bit of peanut butter crackers whenever I take it. I have only been taking Glucophage since the end of April. Before that I took 4mg of Avandia in the mornings.

I am on 1500mgs. I take my Met at 500 mgs per MAIN MEAL... 500 with breakfast, 500 with Lunch, and 500 with Dinner.. to total 1500 mgs..

I take 2000mg a day I ususally take 1000mg in the morning and 1000mg at night usually after dinner. I used to take it throughout the day but it made me so dizzy..why? *Shruggs shoulders* I don't know.. But I am doing good on it now.

Sounds like your blood sugar got too low. If you eat enough for your insulin to act on, you'll feel better.

I have been taking 1500 mg (500 mg, 3x daily at main meals) since 6/25, but as of today it has been increased to 2000 mg......so I will most likely continue taking it at meals and then add my new pill at bedtime.
