Points: 931.36 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 931.36 | I came to know about it only when I was 25. I always had irregular periods and used to bleed a lot. So my doctor put me on birth control but never really explained me anything. Sometimes she would take me out of birth control to see how my periods are but it was always irregular. I stopped using birth control after my marraige. |

your feedback will help a lot
thank you | I was 21 when diagnosed and am now about to be 29. Yes, I do think I have come more to terms with it as I have gotten older. I have more experience in dealing with crap doctors and look out for myself more. Before I felt like I was riding someone else's PCOS rollercoaster, but now I've made it my own. I am able to be more aggressive when there is a treatment I don't like.
I do think that your youth plays a part with your uncertainty, but is not the cause of it. Everyone gets scared when faced with something new. I was 27 when first diagnosed with endometriosis and to tell the truth, it scared the poo out of me.
Don't despair and don't lose hope. It is a good thing that you are getting treated so young. Perhaps that will curtail some of the problems that are associated with PCOS.
I wish you all the luck and happiness the universe has to offer!

My Mood: Points: 547.10 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 547.10 | I was just recently dx (27), but I should have been when I was your age. I never had my periods and the doctors just said "oh you'll get it one day" but I knew something was wrong. I hated always feeling like something was wrong with me. Plus as a young adult I had a hard time losing weight and would gain way too easily...now I know why, but I've struggled with that for years. Personally I'm glad I was dx b/c now I can deal with it w/o being freaked out that I'm "off" all the time! HTH

I can't figure out if this is something I've always had, or if it is something that just popped up, because I really haven't had any symptoms until recently.

Points: 1,553.69 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,553.69 | I was diagnosed on Monday... I'm 23 (almost 24.) Looking back, I think I started getting symptoms when I was 17-18... not many at first, but I think that's when it started. Docs put me on depression/anxiety meds. Then when my periods started getting irregular they just put me on BCP. Hated BCP so went off them over a year ago and I'm thinking the BCP just made issues worse b/c the symptoms have gotten significantly worse in the last year. (Didn't think anything of it the whole 2 or so years on BCP.) Now I'm just glad that I finally know what it is and that I wasn't crazy! |

Will be TTC in near future so wanted to sort my cycle out beforehand as AF never came back after stopping Nuvaring in Nov 2007.

Points: 169.63 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 169.63 | I was diagnosed at 28 I started my period at 14, and didn't have another until I was almost 15. That was the way it went. I went 13 mos without a period when I was in high school. My doctors (there were several...) couldn't figure it out. The hirsuitism began slowly, but early on. I ended up in the emergency room with a period that was so painful, that it truly felt like acid inside me. It turns out that a cyst had ruptured-so it may not have been a true period. It was that day, during one of those really invasive ultrasounds, that I got my initial diagnosis. It was confirmed with test later. At that time, I was seventy pounds overweight.
Like everyone, this disorder has dramatically affected my life, as well as my husbands.
I hope that my experiences can be useful to someone here; and I am hoping to learn a lot too.
Thank you! |
