I grew up knowing something was wrong with me - my whole family knew it. Females aren't supposed to grow BEARDS. Plus my periods were irregular and I always have acne, etc.
Ive been to numerous doctors and they could never look past the fact that I'm overweight, and they blamed EVERYTHING on that. I am friends with a bunch of overweight women and NONE of them grow hair like I do... so I knew that was a load of BS from the doctors. I basically gave up getting a diagnosis, thinking I was just a freak when I was 18 or so..
Then when I was 20 I got with my current boyfriend and we soon started trying for a baby. Well my periods were still very irregular, I was still growing a full beard and a small amount of chest hair and I definitely wasn't getting pregnant after over 2 1/2 years of TRYING.
One night my brother called me and I could barely hear what he was saying because he was talking SO fast. I guess he had seen some "Mystery Diagnosis" show on TLC and it was about this woman who had PCOS. I guess they listed all these symptoms and it fit me to a T! I did some research and found out that I do, in fact, have PCOS. I am a definite textbook case of it.
I really am glad you ladies found out you had PCOS early on, so that you didnt have to grow up feeling abnormal and weird because of your symptoms. I never fully felt like a woman when I was in high school. I kept to myself and never dated anyone
You wouldnt believe how relieved I was when I found out I have PCOS. I finally had a NAME to put with my symptoms. And I found out that I'm not the only woman out there thats suffering from this.
Anyway just wanted to pop in and let you know about my story
I never got an "official" diagnosis, but I really don't feel like I need one. I know what I have, and I don't need some doctor to confirm it for me.
But a lot of women with PCOS don't even know they have it - not me!

I was diagnosed when I was thirteen, back in 2003. My doctor didn't even have to do a test to figure out that I had PCOS. I've been on Met since and a year later I was put on Yasmin. Trying to get my doctor to put me on Spiro as well.

I was diagnosed yesterday and I'm 20. I've had symptoms since I started my period at 14, but I never thought of them as symptoms. Silly delusional me, I thought everyone went for half a year without a period!
i just got dx like 4 days ago and im 16 but i have been having symptoms sence i was like 10, but at that time i had a doc that wouldnt lisen to anything i said
I ended up figuring it out myself, I was never officially "diagnosed" though... well, my gyno (who I now don't have anymore, he was weird as hell) did agree that I "probably had it". I think I was about 16 or so, and I'm 18 now.
