Points: 7,793.05 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 7,793.05 | I was 12 and they were heavy but not debilitating and lasted 7 days. I'm fairly regular (30-35 days), but a couple of years ago they changed to 2-3 days. My doc wouldn't listen either when I tried to tell him that something was wrong. It turned out I was hypothyroid and had PCOS.

My Mood: Points: 1,465.19 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,465.19 | I was 14, almost 15 and on a camping trip with my family. No running water, staying in a tent by the lake etc...
My period was always irregular, it usually came every two or three months, but the cramps didn't get bad until I was 19. This, plus some other factors, made me go on the pill, which kept my periods regular. When I quit BCP's a couple of years ago my period wouldn't come, I gained weight rapidly, and was ultimately diagnosed with PCOS. My somewhat ignorant doctor told me that I just needed to get back on the pill, so my periods would come back, which they did (but I still keep on putting on weight, have other symptoms etc. I guess I just have to wait until I'm really overweight before I can get some real help!). Sorry about that, I just needed to vent... |

The cramps were so bad I had to stay home from school. Then didn't have another until my Mom took me to the Dr. at age 15 and they did a Vaginal U/S (that hurt so bad since I was still a virgin) where they found I had multiple cysts on my ovaries. The Dr. said this was normal and put me on BC for 6 months. I never went back and my periods didn't return until I was about 18. Now I only have one every Blue Moon unless it is induced.

ETA--started heavy from the get go. Lightened up once I went on the pill in high school but after I went off the pill they went straight back to being heavy, cramping, etc. Oh and my sister who also has PCOS--didn't get hers until 16

Points: 6,091.03 Bank: 29,175.06 Total Points: 35,266.09 | I was 15 - got it during the school day and had to run to the nurse for supplies. I was always irregular with maybe a few times in my life having them regular for 3 months and then gone again for 3, 6, 18, 24 months, etc. Just whatever my body felt like doing at the time. I was on and off BCP throughout the years but it never made a difference during the times I was off BCP.
Looking back I can tell which ones were as a result of ovulation (heavy, painful, always had me running for a pregnancy test before AF showed up due to PMS) and which ones were spontaneous uterine flushing due to build up (came out of nowhere, no warning signs, light, painless).

My Mood: Points: 7,807.97 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 7,807.97 | Hey Future Doc Cyster...our stories are very similiar.
It was September 11th when I was 11 years old. I was on an airplane with my family going from Toronto to Chicago for the w/e. I took the sterwardess aside and told her I must be dying.
We got settled in the Hotel and my Dad went downstairs and bought me EVERYTHING I would need for the next 20 years. I'm not kidding I brought everything home with me in my suitcase and was opening up boxes of tampons and pads 15 years later.
My Dad took me to HUGO's restaurant downstairs in the hotel and I had my first Caesar salad made for me at the table (loved it!!) and somehow Dad got the waiter to agree to pour me a glass of champagne.
I have this fantasy I'll go back to HUGO's for some other big special dinner someday.
It was two on two off then three off then five off then skip an entire year from the very start. Never very heavy.

Points: 726.09 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 726.09 | I was 11, remember it was 3 days shy of my 12th birthday. My stepmom called the neighbor to let her know, I cried They were always heavy, extreme cramping, tons of tylenol. Even now I take tylenol, adhesive heating pads you attach to your clothes just to get thru the first few days. I used to take anaprox years ago before I became allergic to nsaids.
My sister started at 9, and was on birthcontrol at 9 due to bleeding for over 3 months. |

That's the kind of thing that you'll never forget, because you have no idea WTH is going on at that age. At least I didn't. |
