How quickly did your hcg levels fall after m/c?

Hugs to all of you cysters who have lost your angel babies!

I had a m/c 4 weeks ago and have been waiting for my hcg levels to drop, so I can start with my new treatment (femara). Unfortunately, my hcg level is still at 20 (last week hcg=47; 2weeks ago hcg=147), so I have to wait yet another week. My doc said this was atypical, but not totally unusual. How long did it take for your hcg levels to be < 5? This waiting is torture for me ... every week they test my levels I am reminded of the loss and the fact that it's not yet over. I really need complete closure to heal. Also, every week is just another reminder about how far away I am from getting pregnant again, which makes me feel even worse. As all of you can relate to... I want so desperately to have a baby!!

First of all, I am so sorry for your loss. Many, many hugs to you.

I'm not much help, as my doc hasn't checked my levels. It has been 3 wks since my MC and I took a pregnancy test a couple of days ago and it was negative. I guess my levels are down to almost nothing again. Take care!

It took 3 weeks for my levels to go from 5500 to 0. (I don't know if it makes a difference, but I m/c naturally.)

SweatPea76--thanks for the input. I guess it makes sense that mine is taking awhile to drop ... when I last had hcg checked at 8weeks it was well over 20,000 and I didn't m/c until 11.5 weeks.

When I was almost 9 wks when I had my D&C it took over 5 wks (I believe-this has been over 2 yrs ago) for my levels to drop. My levels got up to 54,000+ and that was my blighted ovum pregnancy (angel #2).

Niki I'm sorry to hear about your loss. When I m/c last year it almost took 7 weeks for my levels to drop. (((HUGS)))

It took me about 3 weeks but here I am 10 weeks later waiting for AF so I can start TTC again... *sigh*

Michelle, I too am so sorry for your loss! Was this your first bfp? It was my first. It looks like we've been ttc for the same amount of time. Can't you take provera to induce af? When my hcg levels come down I will begin provera to get a period, so I can take bcp and then start my next treatments. How are you doing? I have been feeling worse the last 1.5 weeks than I did right after the m/c. I hope you are finding the strength you need to get through this! Hugs, Niki

Hi Niki,

Yes, it was my first bfp. I was so excited

I miscarried about a month before you.

My dr said I would get AF within 3-4 weeks. I waited and waited. I called him at one point and he said I should wait up to 10 weeks without provera to induce. I have been really uphappy with my dr. (a lot of things but #1- he made me bring in the tissue from my m/c and then when I went in for my appt to get the results he said that he didn't run the test because it was expensive!). That was my last straw and so I went and got a 2nd opinion. They immediately put me on provera.

I took my last pill Thursday morning. Last night when I went to the bathroom the tissue was a little pink when I wiped. I really hope that means she is coming!!!!

I actually think the first couple of days after the m/c were the worst but the longer this drags on without AF the more and more upset I get. I want to at least feel like I am making progress. I am so excited for AF to start so that I can start temping again. The good news is that I have found a dr who really seems to care. He is going to do blood work on the 21st day of my cycle. To make sure that I ovulate and to test my blood sugar. (hopefully I will get my actual diagnosis this month or next!)
