How is the severity of PCOS diagnosed?

Hi, I'm new here and I really look forward to talking wit women who get what I'm going through and who can explain a lot to me. I've seen several posters talk about things depending on how severe your PCOS is. How do you know? I thought you just have it or you don't.

I think it depends on just how out of whack your hormones, etc. are and how well your particular case responds to treatment; some people respond well to just being on bc and can carry on with their lives, others are on numerous medications. It's not really a "one size" thing.

Also based on the number and severity of your symptoms. Not all women with pcos have all of the symptoms associated with PCOS...and they have the symptoms in varying degrees.

Thanks! I did know that not all women with PCOS have all the symptoms. I guess I just didn't associate it with severity. I know my own diagnosis is severe PCOS. Gives me an idea of what that actually means. again thanks.
