How should I dispose of unused meds?

any type of meds....OTC and prescription.

I used to flush them down the toilet but that's not very eco-friendly, throwing them in the trash probably isn't either.

So what should I do with expired OTC drugs and prescriptions I no longer need?

Call your local pharmacist for a recommendation. That's what I would do.

I work in a pharmacy as a tech, and we always tell people to flush them, it destroys the med.

This is also how we at the pharmacy dispose of unwanted meds.

No kidding? What little I did find on the subject says that's the worst way to dispose of them.....it destroys the med, but water treatment plants aren't prepared to handle every drug on the market....so some goes through to the ground water. Yikes!
