Hi everybody, I've been taking 500 mg? of met xr with dinner for the past week now. I've had a little diarrhea and some gas, but that's it. My doc wants me to get up to 2000 mg of met xr a day, and didn't really give me too many guidelines as to how to do it. I think I'm almost ready to go up to 1000, should I just take 2 pills at dinner? Or should I take one at breakfast and one at dinner? Or does it even matter? I'm a little confused as to how the xr differs from the regular met. Thanks so much,

XR is extended release. I take 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. Why not try increasing them by doing the 2 in the evening. Make sure you have some immodium for the daytime use if needed. You can also use metamucil if needed to keep yourself regular.

I miss the thread that laughs about metformin usage - like always knowing where everybathroom between here and there is. Keep toilet paper in your car, the little paper sheets for public bathrooms if they are out, etc.
