My Mood: Points: 1,480.81 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,480.81 | How soon can you start TTC after a miscarriage? I need your opinion please. I had a miscarriage after 5 wks on May 12, '08 and my RE won't let me try another cycle of clomid/IUI for 2 more periods! I got my period 2 days, 33 days after the m/c and I think I'm going to still try - soy for the 1st time and charting temps, cervical fluid and position. The RE says that if you try too soon after a m/c there is an increased chance of repeat m/c and low birth wt, etc. Have any of you ever heard this? It is kind of discouraging b/c I think this is controversial and there are other doctors out there that would allow treatment cycles after m/c. |

It is usually recommended to wait to try again, just to be increase chances of carrying to term. You have to allow your body to heal, to shed all old lining and build new lining, and all hormones in body to return to pre-pregnancy.
I had a natural m/c @ 5wks, my doctor wanted me to wait one cycle. Since I don't Ov on my own he told me 6-8 wks then use provera/clomid.
With a natural m/c they do usually say 1-2 cycles.
With a D/C they usually say 2-3 cycles to allow the uterine lining to heal and replenish itself completely.
Those are the general recommendations for TTC again.
I am not sure the specifics of your situation, but I hope this information helps you some. If you had a complete natural m/c than I don't see a problem with trying after one cycle. But if it was a D/C give it one more cycle for safety. If you try to soon and end up having another m/c you don't want to wondering "What if I'd waited."...
Best wishes for when you try again.

My Mood: Points: 29,541.30 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 29,541.30 | I had a natural m/c at 5.5 weeks, had AF, and then concieved my DS on that next cycle. He was on the small side but he was full term and completely healthy. I think that if you had a natural m/c and AF came on it's own--- your body is ready to go! If it was me I would TTC this cycle and next and then if no pg. Go back to the RE.

For treatment cycles, I would agree to wait one more cycle. Natural stuff, go for it when you feel ready. I'm very sorry about your little one. (((Hugs)))

My m/c was not even complete on Saturday and my doctor told me to start trying on my next cycle. I dont get a cycle without provera so I'm starting provera in two weeks and starting w/ Metformin next week as well. I'm ready to start b/c it took us 6 months of Metformin to get this miracle and my dh is only here until October so I'm going to start as soon as my next cycle is over. I hope that whatever you decide is what you feel is best and you are ready.

I'm sorry for your loss

My Mood: Points: 15,823.52 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 15,823.52 | My doctor told me to wait 3 cycles, but i really think it depends on how far along you are and if you had to have a D&C. I had an US "off record" at work and my ovaries and endometrium looked great so i think that we are only going to wait one cycle too. I just want to make sure everything goes good with this cycle before we try to conceive again. Baby dust to all of you. |

My Mood: Points: 1,103.48 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,103.48 | Allison,
I recently had an early m/c. I have yet to have an AF post m/c, but I am planning on trying as soon as she rears her ugly face. I think as long as you are able to have a regualar AF post a natural m/c you should be able to go ahead and try. If you are uncertain maybe you should seek out a second opinion from another doctor. I can't wait to try again. I have been trying on an off for 8 years to get pregnant again. I have only one ovary and have only had 2 pregnancies (1 ending in m/c on 6/16/08). I think that our bodies will only get pregnant if they are able. |

My Mood: Points: 1,480.81 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,480.81 | reply to Hadley I'm so sorry to hear about your loss! It really hurts and I can remember the variety of emotions your go through finding the BFP and then losing it! Even though my RE wouldn't treat me this cycle, I'm trying it the 'old fashioned' way anyway! And guess what, I actually ovulated on my own with prayers, patience, soy, and acupuncture! (Even though I've been on 6 rounds of clomid, 3 with IUI as well, and 1 with trigger). I just think if it was meant to happen this cycle, it will. If not, then I might seek treatment with the RE if AF comes. Best of luck with your family planning.
