I started Yasmin about a week ago and so far I haven't had any side effects. I'm just wondering if I'm one of the lucky ones (there are some pretty bad horror stories on this site) or if my body hasn't had enough time to figure out if it doesn't like these pills.

I started Demulen/Zovia a week and a half ago. I started having side effects - sore boobs and a little bloated, also I was feeling as though I had a cyst forming after about a week...

I feel fine otherwise, my skin looks great!! It cleared up in a few days - I was pretty broken out before that. The few extra pounds of bloating is worth it for the clear skin.

On Yaz, the first month was pretty jolly- absolutely no side effects. During the 1st week of the second pack, the bowels of HELL swallowed me. I has horrid mood swings, to the point I just stopped whatever I was doing, no matter where I was, fell in the floor and cried.

On Loestrin, I had only a few headaches during the first month but all 4 periods on it were sooo light it was almost like I missed it.*TMI* It was turn-your-head-this-way-squint-you-eye-there-it-is! light :\

So, you may get physical side effects within the first cycle, but the emotional ones can pop up any time.

when i first started birth control side effects started in week one consistently gaining a kilo per week for at least two months. it was insane. but my acne/greasy skin cleared up within 3 months i think.

The only side effect I really noticed was the nausea. It was horrible for four months (not three as the package directions said!). If I had any weight gain, it was minimal.

But I've had nothing but pleasant side effects since then. My skin is great now, my hair loss has decreased, and I get AF more predictably. (That area is still not great. There will be months I don't get it at all, months it's just very light and cramp-free, and months where it feels like before I was ever on BCPs - like I want to curl up and die because the cramps are so painful and AF is so heavy.)

Diagnosed finally in July 2009 (but suspect I have had PCOS for many years prior) Thanks to my DH and my dermatologist for helping me figure this out and getting me to an awesome endocrinologist! OB/GYN was NO HELP whatsoever.
Current meds
Spironolactone since July 2009
Some type of BCP since March 2005
Currently Loestrin generic equivalent (Microgestin or Junel)
TTC in 2010.
