Default How soon will AF show up?

How soon will you get AF after a mc? I found out 3 days ago (7 w 5d) that my baby hasn't grown since 6 w 2d (when we saw heartbeat) and they don't think there's a hb. The flutter they see they think is my heartbeat. So doc said doesn't look good and I'll probably mc. I go back in 4 days to confirm what they saw. So, I'm just waiting in limbo.

Anyways, if/when I do mc (and hopefully it happens naturally) how long does it usually take for AF to show up? In other words, when should we start ttc again?

When i had a m/c at the beginning of feb, i am now just started AF.
Which to be honest was a total shock and i never expected to get AF back so soon.
They say it can be 6 plus weeks if not months.
But somehow my hormones kicked in sooner.

Allow yourself time to greive. Time to accept and heal.
You will know when it is right to TTC again. But prepare for things to take a month or so to heal.

Sorry for your loss. I know what it feels like to have it all taken away and all i wanted was to be was pregnant again. It's only natural.

Take care,

Sam.

My mc was in October. We started TTCing right away, but that wasn't really wise. I would wait for one AF if I have to do it again. AF for me took more than five weeks to come back, so I asked for pills. It helped me feel like things were getting back to normal.

Diana - what kind of pills did you ask for?

My missed miscarriage was confirmed last week, and the baby stopped growing several weeks ago. I still have not gone thru the process of the miscarriage yet though. I am supposed to go in and talk to my doctor about my options (D&C or pills).

Chrisy - I had a D&E, and my next AF was about 5 weeks later. Not sure how long it might be if you are waiting to m/c, but your HCG levels need to start dropping off, before the other hormones can kick in to restart the menstrual process. Getting my HCG to 0 took 8 weeks (but I had been carrying twins that I lost at 14 wks, it was pretty high to start with, around 55000), so there must be some threshold where it drops below a certain level and then the other hormones can start working again, since I had AF at 5 weeks. My doc advised avoiding conception until after the first natural AF to let my lining get re-built from all the scraping from the D&E. HTH,
Dianna

I had an incomplete m/c after taking meds on Feb 27th and finally had my D & C on March 2nd. Today I went in for a follow-up (11 days later) and the ultrasound should that I have a 14mm folly and my endometrium is at 6mm in three layers. So doc said I´m going to ovulate this month... I can't believe it! (I haven't tested to see if my betas went to zero and I was spotting until a few days ago.) The same happened to me after my first m/c-- I immediately started with regular 28 to 30-day cycles for the first time in my ENTIRE life! Unfortunately, even though everything always seems to look picture perfect, I don't seem to be very fertile because the eggies just don't stick. Probably due to my age... but anyway, I know of several cysters who got PG on the cycle immediately after they got AF after a m/c. So it can happen...

I should add that today we decided to do testing for clotting disorders and other issues with repeat m/c since I am almost 40 and may not have many more chances.

When I had my m/c at 6 weeks I let it happen naturally it was the best thing for me. I did not want a D&C because it could possibly cause complications in future pegnancies. I know that some people have to have a D&C, D&E exspecially if they are very far along. It was about 6 more weeks before I got af after my m/c. My ob said wait until you have atleast one normal cycle before trying again. I don't know if this is correct for everyone. Good luck to you.
