That really depends on your doctor. I know that some women have had to beg, plead, and argue to get their script, and I feel horrible for them. I was lucky and got mine w/o a problem.

I went to the appt armed with info and ready to state my case. He had a copy of the u/s and the radiologist report, listened to my history and current problems, then said he is writing me a script for Met but to wait until my bw results come back to get it filled. Got the bw that day, results within a week, and the office called and told me to get the script filled. Looking at my results, they were pretty much in the 'normal' range.

I hope you don't have a problem, but just incase, be prepared and come with as much information as possible. There's a lot of good info here that you can print out and show to the doc to prove you know what you're talking about.

Good Luck!

I would go armed with knowledge. Go to the FAQ thread and print up a bunch of the articles on met's success with PCOS. Nothins speaks to a dr better than numbers. Even really old school Dr's might allow you to try it on a trial basis.

The doc that diagnosed me did not put me on Met. When I did my research and saw that EVERYONE seems to be on it, I called her. She never returned my phone call and that was the 'sign' I needed to 'fire her.'

My new doc put me on it last week after I told her I wanted to get this under control and felt the med was something I needed to start.

As everyone says here....be an advocate for yourself!
