Good to know I'm not alone with feeling frustrated that I'm thin and have PCOS. I'm 5'1 1/2 (yes that half counts!) and 115lbs..usually, right now I'm 120, I go between the two. I notice when I go down to 110 my symptoms get a little better, it's just hard to stay that thin, I eat good usually as it is.

Default Getting Thinner on Met

I replied to this before, but it's been quite awhile. I am 5'3" and I weigh 117 (thanks to Metformin). I used to weigh 145 before Metformin. I went from a size 10/12 to a size 4/6! Crazy, huh? Part of the weight loss was due to me getting very sick last winter and I lost weight (15 lbs) from that. Since then, I seem to have lost more (but I don't know how, other than my Metformin). Any of you thin cysters found your losing weight on Metformin? I've even decreased my dosage recently and it was either that or stress that has caused the more recent weight loss. How do you prevent more weight loss? My doctor doesn't want me losing any more weight if I can help it.

Met definitely makes me loose weight, although not so much that I couldn't get pregnant (just borderline underweight... I got down to 107 at 5'4.5" at one point)

I'm 5'8" and 120 lbs post baby, but I prefer the way my clothes fit when I'm around 115 lbs.

jeez, yall are really skinny. I'm 5-5. Was 115 before PCOS. Up to 148 before any meds. Down to 120 on spiro (alone with IUD). Am 135 now after DD birth no meds.

I've been on every end of the carb-eating spectrum, exercising or not, and nothing helped until I got on the right IR med for me, which was DCI. I did lose the weight on spiro, too, but got AF all the time too--and couldn't ttc.

I lost weight on Metformin too -- I started off around 125-126 lbs, and dropped to less than 115, but when I switched to the extended release form, I put it back on again. Much better!

Hi, I was referred here. I just joined today

I am not a "thin" cyster, but I am not overweight. I am about 5'1 and 123 lb, last time i was weighed. Guess I am just average weighted....

I think in this case, thin just means that weight is not a factor in your PCOS...not that you have you be stick thin!

I'm 5'1" and 100#s. I exercise and watch what I eat pretty closely though. I'm sure I would way at least 10#s more if I didn't work at it so hard.

Default Have an of you tried Met?

Just wondering if any of you have tried Metformin while TTC? My Dr. was little worried at first since I was so thin but I really think I am going to push for it.

Yep.. met's been my wonder drug... see my signature. It doesn't work for everyone, but I haven't been tested for IR and it takes me the same amount of time on it each time to get pregnant (3-4 months).

My dr. put me on Met when I wanted to TTC. I don't think it's working for me, though. I haven't lost weight with it, either (maybe even gained) so it's not automatic that taking Met will make you lose weight.

Trish--I think I've asked you before--why did you take such a high dose of Met, if you don't mind me asking. I'm at the point where I want to stop taking it because I don't think it's working for me, but then if taking a monster dose would do it, I'd be willing to try it.
