My Mood: Points: 111,105.90 Bank: 6,960.32 Total Points: 118,066.22 | Are you talking about my 2850 mg? I'm not entirely sure... I think my doctor was just going with what was being prescribed at the time. If I remember correctly he had just heard that the higher dose was more effective... however, more recently I'm on the 2000 mg, so I am assuming that they've found that to be the most recent "magic" dose. I think they are all just experimenting at this point. For me, though, it seems that the doseage hasn't been all that important just the amount of time I'm on it, since I still get pregnant in 3-4 months no matter what dose I'm on. I have heard from others though that bumping up to 2000 mg may help some women. I'm no expert on it though and 1500 did work for me the first time. Met has made me lose weight everytime though... although not so much that I get concerned. Sorry that I can't answer any better than that! I've been incredibly lucky so I haven't spent a lot of time questioning it! Probably should though! |

People don't usually need quite as much if it's just for insulin resistance/glucose intolerance. |

Sending you good thoughts mariposabelle! I am trying to get off my antidepressants right now (in prep for TTC) and it isn't always easy some days. |

My Mood: Points: 2,069.93 Bank: 7,692.92 Total Points: 9,762.85 | I'm 5' 6" and was between 122-127 up until March 07. Then my eating habits have gone off track. I have been adopting since the end of 06 and the adoption hormones (yes they do exist) have taken over my appetitie. So I am up to 135-138 on a given day.
One thing I am looking forward to is chasing around my son (who will be 1, next month), and whom I bring home in a couple of weeks; to take off the extra pounds. Between that and being home everyday with him (instead of working 2 jobs, as I have been lately), I should be able to eat better.

Good luck with your soon to be new arrival. I have been reading the South Beach diet book. They have great tips for PCOS patients. I am also taking Metformin and that helps a lot. I am 5'9 and 120 lbs but even I noticed a difference in the weight around my mid section.

Of course all medical peeps say I'm not overweight so no need to lose weight..I'm not so sure. What do you reckon? |

Points: 132.53 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 132.53 | New "thin cyster" Hi all -
I was just officially diagnosed and am SO thankful to have found this forum. I am 5'7" and 121 pounds...and this is the first place I have found online where there are other thin women going through PCOS. Losing weight is not really an option for me, and everything I have seen thus far suggests that PCOSers should lose weight.
I was on the pill for a looong time (14 years!) and assumed that eventually getting pg would be a walk in the park. Ha! So much for that. I went off the pill in April '07 and waited until November to pipe up to my doctor...I just kept waiting for my body to regulate. Clearly that never happened.
But the good news is that I really like my new ER, and DH is on board 100%. Am starting Provera tonight and Clomid (50 mg) soon...and keeping my fingers crossed.
Sorry for the long post...just wanted to say hi and vent to some ladies that probably understand exactly what I'm going through.

I am just curious...Do you have extra weight in the middle? I am 5'9 and 120 lbs but do carry extra weight in my mid section. I think metformin has helped me but I am not pregnant yet. I started met over 2 months ago. I think it is usually for women that need to lose weight but everyone with PCO may have some Insulin Resistance. I had one Fertility Specialist tell me that I was too thin and that is why I wasn't getting preggers. I have one daughter who is five and I have not lost weight nor gained since she was born. The Dr. insisted that I eat lots of fattening foods. SoI did until I started with a new OBGYN who discovered I had PCO. I will be visiting with a new Endo in a few weeks. I am excited to see what she says. I have done clomid and shots. I had lots of follicles but I did not ovulate. I am thinking I really need to stick to a low carb diet but it is hard since I have been able to eat whatever I have wanted my whole life. Good luck with Clomid. It might be just what you need!
