Thanks for the tip!

hahahah, no way is it bad ladynred :-) ! i'm 5' 6" and 145 and my family calls me names like "twiggy, spider legs, string...." hahaha... they tease me all the time about being "so skinny" (the preference of weight, cud be a cultural thing tho), so if ur taller then me & weigh the same as me I def think it's fine!

My Mood: Points: 3,277.29 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,277.29 | I am by no means thin, but I think I am at a normal weight 125lbs and somewhere between 5'6 and 5'7. My symptoms are acne (but I use a prescription face cream, so I really don't have any acne), anovulation, and polycystic ovaries; therefore, infertility. Metformin has not given me my cycles back. Since puberty, always have had 35 day cycles when not on BCP... went on BCP fafter having DS for about 1 1/2 years, got off BCP, then never got AF back on my own again. after 1 1/2 years of no cycles and TTC, DX PCOS 7/2006. Read so much about PCOS, and never thought I fit the bill. It was a shock to be DX, but a relief to finally have an answer and know what I was up against for TTC. Even though I don't have as many symptoms, it feels like my PCOS is very deep rooted, since metformin doesn't even bring my cycles back, and it supposedly helps around 80%. Anyone else in my boat??

My Mood: Points: 3,277.29 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,277.29 | Well, I consider myself a thin cyster. I have a close friend (since high school) who has many of the PCOS symptoms that I feel I am lucky not to have, including obesity, so I know how bad it can be... I just think that I am a normal size, and in my mind, the word "thin" means more of the "skinny mini." maybe it's all of the media images I expose myself

How do you calculate that? Cause I ended losing a bunch of weight with low carb and met (and breastfeeding!) and was 107 lbs at 5'4.5" and still conceived and my doc wasn't worried at all (I thought maybe I was too skinny at the time) |

I was very thin as a teenager and in my early 20s -- under 110 lbs, but I just couldn't seem to gain weight. Then I turned 27 and my body I guess figured it out! I'd say I'm a healthy weight.
I just had PCOS panel b/w done and am waiting for the results. One thing that's not PCOS-like about me is that I gain weight in my butt first and my belly last. Other than that, I have all the (lovely) symptoms. [grrr]

I completely agree with you.I am 5'6 and weigh 116 pounds.I am trying really hard to increase my weight. In between my doctor put me on a low carb diet and my weight went down to 110 pounds. My test results came back and I am not Insulin resistant.Like you said a healthy weight is really important to get the menstrual cycle back on track. |

My Mood: Points: 6,836.63 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 6,836.63 | Trisha, it was in a book my mom gave me, The Fertility Diet. I'm not entirely sure how you get your BMI, it's like a height to weight ratio, but they put a handy dandy chart in there to tell you what range is healthy, with regards to conceiving. A healthy BMI was between 18.5-24, with a BMI of 21 seeming to be optimal for getting pg. I don't know how tall you are, but a BMI of 21 is this for the following heights; 5'0" = 107, 5'2" = 115, 5'4" = 122, 5'6" = 130, 5'8" = 138, 5'10" = 146. Which right now, I am 5'3 1/2" and weigh 109, so I guess I maybe ought to heed my own advice and gain a couple pounds.

Anyone else in my boat?? | I am also thin at 125 lbs 5'9". Many Dr.s have focused on my weight but I cannot seem to gain weight without eating tons and tons of junk food. I am trying a lower carb diet and I have been on Metformin for 3 months. I don't have typical systems of PCOS either. I did have some acne but the Met has cleared that up. Without a positive IR test, acne, and facial hair, many Dr.'s question the PCO. Do you have the same problem with Dr.s??? I have cysts on my ovaries and my new Endo is wondering if I could be ovulating but my follicles fill with blood so that an ultrasound is misleading and others don't think I am ovulating. We are now going to concentrate on my husband's counts and I am going to continue my new exercise program and Metformin. It is hard for me to say what my periods are like because I was taking Progesteron for months and thinking I was having a period. Last month on day 35 I got a period without progesterone and I am hoping that it is the Met helping me. We have TTC for 3 years.
