Points: 780.55 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 780.55 | A little late coming into this, but...I consider myself a "thin cyster", or at least trying to get back there. I am 5'2" and currently weight around 150. I know this is not "thin", but until a few years ago I was always around 125. I was put on heavy steroids for an eye disease a few years ago and not too long after that did 6 rounds of clomid. I really packed on the pounds with all of that and am really struggling to get back to my "normal" weight. Hope to be back there soon, but it sure has been hard.
I am the same height and weight as you. Until I was around 27 years old, I was thin. 5'2" - between 105 - 115. I wore a size 2-4.
Here's the thing: I am thin or average sized everywhere except my middle. I have my clothes altered to fix. I would say a size 8 petite from my hip down, a size 10 for my chest and a size 14 in the middle. I don't know - I kind of feel in the middle. I guess I can feel for both sides. |

I have been following the Patrick Holford low Gl diet and it's working. My periods are now regular (they haven't been since I was a teenager and I am now 31) and my skin has cleared up (I used to have cystic acne), although my hair is still thinning. I have seen a nutrionist also, she said to have five small meals a day and in each combine complex carbs and protein. It's helped with my energy levels, although I still have some although reduced sugar/carbs cravings. My nutritionist recommended the book "The Insulin Factor" and it's a good read also. I need to do more exercise though as it apparently really helps with IR. |

I am just wondering if you have problems with Dr.'s believing that you have PCOS? I really struggle having people listen to me. Even with the ultrasound that show cysts they still question PCO. Are you on Metformin?

I just started having SERIOUS symptoms out of NOWHERE in the last few months! GYN said to change BCP and maybe some OD since I have TONS of cysts on my ovaries and they are bursting.
I eat healthy and exercise on a regular basis so I am not sure what they heck is wrong with me...it is making me depressed! |

My Mood: Points: 1,263.66 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,263.66 | Nikiep : My RE didn't seem to have a problem dx me with PCOS, but he seems pretty interested in the sub set group of thin PCOS women. He did the full panel of bloodwork and an u/s as well as taking my case history before committing to the PCOS dx. He did tell me that in his experience thin, non IR, women with PCOS were more challenging to treat. He seemed to indicate that thin PCOS is not well understood and should probably be called something else entirely but they just call it thin PCOS because the symptoms seem to fit under that PCOS umbrella.

My Mood: Points: 337.22 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 337.22 | Thanks Juno! That was good to hear, I thought all of my doctors thought I was crazy do be complaining about my symptoms and not being the 'typical PCOS candidate'! I am in search of a new doctor that is willing to help me 'fix' the problem and not just try to get me pregnant...the search is on! |
