Red face How to treat androgenic alopecia naturally?

Does anyone have any encouragement for me on how to treat AGA naturally. I have read the alternative with the other meds (BCP, SPIRO, ETC) . I would like to do what is safest for my body. Thanks for any info.

I don't know but I'd like to know as well. I have been using Nioxin shampoo number 1 and it seems to have stopped the massive shedding, plus you don't have to continously use it for the rest of your life. Apparently what it does is deep cleans the follicles out. It feels so good on your scalp too.

I know this sounds crazy, but try giving yourself a hot-oil treatment with organic coconut oil. It makes my hair feel full and shiny. I hope it can benefit you.

Since my hair is pretty thin and oily (of course), I was wondering if the coconut oil makes it oilier. I really dont want to resort to medications if I dont have to. I am sure that the meds help but are they safe for long periods of time. Thanks for your input, I will have to try it.

I didnt have this problem but my younger sister did. What worked for her may sound crazy but it did work.An older lady had told my Mother to boil grape leaves and then have my sister wash her hair in that water. It took a while but its been about ten years and she has better hair than I do.The treatment didnt take that long (the 10 years) thats how long its been since she took off her wig and never wore one again.

They had tried everything but this is the only thing that worked for her.She was a teen at the time and it was very hard for her.Hope this workes for someone else!!GL!!

This might show some ignorance on my part, but can you buy grape leaves at a normal grocery store? I would be willling to give it try.

Yeah, anything with oil in it I am a bit wary to use because of how oily my scalp already is.

Grape leaves too huh? I've never heard of that...

Well she just used regular grape leaves from my Aunts grape arbor. And I believe she just used the water as a rinse after normal shampoo and conditioner.I remember my Grandmother boiling a bunch in a large crock pot and then saving the water.I do hope this works for someone else like it did her.It does sound crazy but it did work.GL!!!

Hey, this is interesting and I'm willing to try it. Good thing I got grapevines out in my backyard and they are starting to leaf out for the Spring right now!

I really appreciate the other advice, too. The more the merrier.

I used Nioxin for years and still use it occassionally. I think it did slow down the hairloss, although I'm not sure about new growth.

A shampoo I like lately is one that I got at a Beauty Supply shop. I haven't seen it in regular stores.

I'ts L'Oreal "Nature's Therapy" Mega Volume Body Building Shampoo and there's a separate bottle (also blue color) of Conditioner. Although the conditioner contains alcohol, which is a bit drying, the shampoo has rosemary and nettle extract, which I hear is good for thinning hair.

Well, after the birth of my son 6 yrs ago is when i realized it wasn't just after birth shedding. Its been shedding since then. I was put on spiro., bcp., and met for a while. It slowed it, but not stopping it. This past Nov. we decided to try to concieve, so I came off my meds and boy what a letdown! I am shedding like crazy! So I told myself that if I dont conceive soon, I have got to get the ball rolling again to control my symptoms. I would like to control it naturally thought this time. So thank you to all of you who have givem me your input.

Try taking a good dose of Biotin daily. I have been taking 5,000 mcg (2,500 twice a day) and it has really helped my hair grow in.
