I am new to Soul Cysters, but not new to PCOS. I am 25, and was dx'd when I was 19. So, after 6 long years...I still don't have things under control. I went for a very long time without access to adequate medical care, and as a result went over 4 years without a period. I am currently without health insurance again, and am struggling to stay on my medications and get the testing done that I need to have done.
Currently, I have elevated parathyroid, prolactin, and testosterone. My progesterone is in the normal range, but only because of birth control. I am also very Vitamin D deficient.
In addition to the PCOS, I am Bipolar, have Endometriosis, and Interstitial Cystitis. I've known about being Bipolar (Type I) for a lot longer than I've known about the PCOS, but I truly believe that my hormones play havoc on my moods. I am very curious about PCOS and other co-morbid disorders.
I'm a Biology student, am married, and have no plans for children at this juncture. I do have a little dog (JRT) named Ruutu, and an African Grey parrot named Gracie.
My biggest struggles? Weight and moods. I also have hirsutism pretty badly and that's more than annoying. I also experience a lot of pain, but I think that may be from the Endo more than PCOS.
I'm really looking forward to meeting others who struggle with this and to get and receive advice. I'm very happy to have found this forum.
