Hello there! My name is Christine and I've lurked this board for a while but have never quite had the nerve to post anything until today. I guess I've just reached the point where I feel that communicating with others in the same boat might be good for my psyche. I don't much like to talk about it, I'm overly shy about these things it seems. It's hard for me to talk to my friends, who have absolutely no idea what it's like, lol.

I was diagnosed in 2000, but never really did anything about it. I met my husband in 2003 and was married in 2005, and started ttc in 2006. At the time I was on metformin, and aldactone only. After a year it became apparent that it wasn't going to help. I had read somewhere that even losing 3% of your body weight drastically improved your chances. I had been considering gastric bypass for about 3 years at that point, and that just solidified my decision. October of 2007 I had surgery and had to put off ttc for a year. Losing nearly 30% of my body mass didn't help with the PCOS, but I feel it was worth it anyway. January of 2009 I was officially down 103 lbs, so we started again and have been on Femara since February. I've had one positive ovulation, last month after my dosage was increased to 5 mg, and although not preggers at least I know what it takes now. I have two more days left on this round so I am hoping to get another O. Keeping the fingers crossed this time, but trying to not let my hopes get up as high as they were last month.

Anyway, I think this message board is awesome, I've seen a lot of positive support and good suggestions. Thanks for having me and I look forward to being a part of it.

Welcome Christine,

I know what you mean about needing someone who understands what you're going through. I'm pretty shy about my pcos too. And when I do talk about it with family or friends they're like... "Huh?" and then brush it off like it's no big deal. I've been lurking for sometime here as well and just recently started posting (last week as a matter of fact). I've been able to "say" things here that I would have never talked about with anyone in person. This board rocks. It's my go to place for info and for support from fellow cysters.

I too am on femara this cycle (2nd round at 5mg, o'd last cycle just didn't time it right). Good luck on your journey TTC. I'd be glad to "talk" about anything.

You might find some others who can relate to that part of your story in the WLS Board here: http://www.soulcysters.net/weight-loss-surgery-pcos/

Perhaps they can also offer advice on what finally worked...lots of babies over there
