I really don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I just want to share my recent HSG experience.
Basically, for those of you don't know what it is, it is when radio active dye is shot up vaginally and xrays are taken to see if there are any tubal blockages.
The good news is that it doesn't hurt one bit (or at least for me). It feels a little uncomfortable - perhaps just a little more so than a pap test. So, all of you out there who are getting it done, have no worries!!!
I'm also very excited to learn that I'm all clear. No blockages. I saw my womb and tubes on the screen and they look great. It's a small victory, but one that I am VERY excited about.
That you for listening!!!!

Congrats on the good news! I'm glad your's wasn't painful...mine was one of the worst pains of my life. But, everyone's experience and pain tolerance level is different...and I'm a wimp! LOL

Funny gals - I must have a high pain tolerance!!! When I got my belly button pierced all my friends said it hurt, but I thought it was a joke. KIDDING.
Seriously though, its too bad that yours was bad for some reason. Was it the actually process or the cramping afterward? I felt a little warmness when they shot the dye in, but nothing too bad.

I just has HSG done 3 days ago and I won't lie-it HURT while they were doing the test. It was like one GIANT cramp but afterward I had a little cramping for about 20 minutes and that was it. I did take 2 Advil about 45 minutes before-not sure if that helped or not.

My HSG test done in August hurt like HELL!!! So much I was begging my doc to stop. I normally have a high pain tolerance (been through 2 miscarriages and and ruptured ectopic in addition to a kidney infection) but this was pain unlike anything Ive ever felt before. No cramps afterwards thank god.
hi emaline,
im really glad fro you that your hsg was painless,
but like the other cysters ive never had pain like it in my life,
iwas crying and begged the doc to stop it hurt so much,
and after i was in bed with the pain and bleeding for a week,
and im not a baby where pain is concerned ive had 1 mc and a tattoo and oversymed overies from clomid gall stone and another op that went wrong.
but the hsg was rel bad ,
im glad you had the all clear .
looking forward to speaking to you again soon take care
hi jenny,
thanks for saying i was brave ,
but i wasnt i cryed like a baby lol
a woman that i met about 3 months ago had a hsg doe in a differant hospital to me and they gave her pain releaf and kept her in over nite ,
i had nothing and was send right home?
i dont understand how diff hospitals can do the same test so differantly its mad and its not fair on the women that are haveing it done
love and luck to you and the family
ceffion xxxxxxxxx
Glad to hear you had a wonderful experience with your HSG! Good luck with ttcing...I hear that some women have successful pgs after the HSG because it is basically like clearing your tubes out Good luck!!!
