Thumbs up Hummus

now that was a tasty snack, about 11 almonds dipped in roasted garlic hummus by Athenos.
Has anyone ever tried that?
Also, anyone have any hummus recipes? That stuff is great.

Hummus is yum!

I've made it before but it's a really pain in the a**. You have to look for tahini which I think is sesame seed paste.

Much easier to buy (and cheaper) to buy it at the grocery store. Plus there's so many flavors.

Food Network has good recipes though if you are motivated.

Have you ever tried Baba Ghanoush? That stuff is great too.

mmmmm... hummus is so yummy and way better for you than most other dips. My friend used to make it all the time but I think its easier to buy it.

I had tasted it once about 9 years ago, and thought it was good. Then my home-ec teacher made some at school, and I had told her how much I liked it, so she gave me some. I ate it for lunch and overdid it. I got very sick. No one else did, so I think it was just some weird reaction from me eating too much (but who knows, maybe I am allergic or something). Anyway, I just can't stomach it now. But, it did taste good!

I have been eating hummus my whole life. I love it & use it so much...

If you buy tortilla wraps, like whole wheat, flax, sundried tomato etc...try adding your fav meat & hummus for flav...Yum!!!

I love finger foods, so pretty much anything goes with hummus to me, as long as I can dip!!

I second the Baba Ganoush......I do the same thing with that too!!! It is awesome!!!

Hummus can be eaten with Pita's aswell, just dipped in for a snack!!!

Default Other dipping ideas

you can eat it with almost any vegetable. A local brew pub I go to has a hummus plate appetizer that I often get as a meal. It's a bowl of hummus, with warm flat bread, cucumber rounds, grape tomatoes, kalamata olives and feta cheese.

I've also dipped raw zucchini, baby peeled carrots, barely steamed (still crunchy) green beans. Basically just experiment. I have also had them with wheat thins and all sorts of other crackers.

If I've got a bag of pita that's about to go fuzzy, another thing I"ll do is slice it into wedges, brush with lemon juice (or not) and toast in the oven for a little while. Flip once, toast the other side, and voila, instant pita chips.

Baba Ghanoush is a similar dip (in that it gets it's consistency from tahini (sesame seed paste) but instead of garbanzo beans it's made with eggplant!

Try this when you are tired of being gassy.

Me I need all the help I can get in the gas department so I can compete with DH and DS!!!

I just came back from grocery shopping with two containers of hummus. Yum and thanks!

One is Hummus w/Roasted Pepper and the other is Hummus w/Black Olive. Yummo!

Here in TX, I got to HEB to shop and they didn't have Baba Ghanoush. I have to get that at Whole Foods.

Easy Hummus:

if you keep dried beans in the house, make a crockpot full, drain, and cool then freeze in 1 - 2 cup increments.

In a food processor, toss in the beans, some olive oil (1-2 t), lemon juice (1/2 lemon squeezed), garlic (to taste), salt, pepper, and just plain old sesame seeds (1-2 t). Process till achieves desired consistency. You can add tumeric too.

I'm too thrifty to buy it at the store. I use organic of all the above. DH LOVES it, will eat it buy the cup I swear.
