Okay. I all know excactly what your guys are talking about and I get tickled because of all the names for it. (sorry I find humor in odd things) I always called it my quasi modo hump or neck hump and am soooooo annoyed by it. I hate the fact that when I lay on my back I have a built in uncomfortable pillow attached to the base of my neck. You know with all the other crazy ass off the wall symptoms we have why....why .....WHY the back hump!!! i mean seriously the fact that im already fat with thin hair on my head that seems to be growing out of my face, crazy wacked out periods that go MIA on me every 3 months and mood swings from hell and depression dragging me down all day with dark circles under my arms and between my legs, not to mention the dirty neck look and enough dandruff to make it snow!!!! why am i blessed with the neck hump? im mean really ! how am I supposed to meet my Mr right to marry and live happy and try to make babies with?????? I doubt very seriously he'll think my hump is sexy! lmao sorry I know I know bitter party of 1 here. Im off my soapbox.

yes the hump is actually a pocket of fat it can be liposucked out my friend did that and hers is gone but every fat girl in my family has it with pcos and without. no one with cushings though ..guess it never hurts to check!

I had the same hump, but had mine surgically removed in October 2007. My doctor originally tested me for Cushings, but those thankfully came back negative (Cushings can be fatal if left untreated) My hump was an accumulation of fatty tissue, and I had it removed by liposuction. I was SOOO happy with the results, I am still hump free 9 months later, although my Doc said it does have the possibility of coming back.

I have one as well, it doesn't really bother me asthetically all that much. it has gotten smaller as I've lost 35 pounds since being diagnosed a year ago. I don't think it will go away copmpletely, but I'm fine with that. The only thing that bothers me is when I start to get stressed out it "collects" there and gets sore and tight, a good, hard massage helps. I actually put a tattoo on mine, and it felt so good, I almost fell asleep in the chair, lol!

I too have a hump on my neck that my doctor advised that it has to do with the extra weight. After losing 80 pounds, it is still there and I too am very self concious about it...I feel like quasi moto... I do wonder though, I have an extra rib bone on either side of my neck and recently found out that the chiropractor will not touch my neck. I find it very painful! Does anyone els find it painful? Doctors will not do surgery and the posture exercises didnt help... HELP ME PLEASE. Im too young for this and wonder what it will be like five years down the road if it is progressing this fast this early. Im starting to think that it is not a fatty hump because when I press upwards on my spine, I feel it bend forward, like a turtle, my head is pushed forward??
