Wink Hurrah for Olay!

I can't remember where I read it, but I know that somewhere, some of us were lamenting the fact that we need wrinkle cream and spot cream. Well, my latest in a long line of skin stuff is olay's 7 signs moisturiser...wait for it... with blemish control! Hurrah! have only bought it, so no idea yet how good it is, but I'll keep you informed! Pretty expensive (of course!) but five pounds off in tesco at the moment (these people should pay me)

Also, Vichy do a 'Dermablend' corrective foundation that covers red marks etc = pretty good, but not sure where you can buy it here - again, will let you know!

LOLxx

For anyone who likes making their own lotions and potions, rose oil and palmarosa (in a basic homemade cold cream base) at the usual dilutions, are great for ageing skin and for PCOS type symptoms. The rose oil is great for balancing you out, hormonally. Rose oil might seem expensive but lasts for several years and you can use it in so many ways. The palmarosa is good for *older* skins. I use the basic recipes in Patricia Davies' *A-Z of Aromatherapy*, and *The Fragrant Pharmacy* by Valerie Ann Worwood is also great.

I've seen bought creams based on rose oil (rosa damascena) around £25 for a tiny pot - and they're full of chemicals and additives, and have probably stood around in warehouses and shops for months before you buy them. You can make better skin creams for maybe less than a quid, and without the weird additives. Because you make them yourself, you can address several different problems (like acne plus ageing skin) in one go.

It's worth thinking about making your own stuff - or buying it from aromatherapy shops/places like *Lush* that don't use so many chemicals and preservatives, as if you have PCOS, your body's having a hard enough time processing chemical residues and toxins, as it is. You can use Vitamin E or Benzoin oil as natural preservatives and/or keep your homemade creams in the fridge.

Neal's Yard Remedies http://www.nealsyardremedies.com/shop/templates/imagedirectory/beauty_balm5.jpg

do base and essential oils that are organic, which are especially suitable for us as there are no weird chemical residues in them.

There has been some bad press lately about anti ageing creams and products. This is one of the milder sites I found:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/364442.stm

A lot of the expensive cutting edge stuff is even potentially dangerous, or accelerates ageing as it cuts down the skin's ability to fight sun damage. Some of the latest stuff is being criticised for being positively risky for skin health:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2087-1697116,00.html

You can make your own skin care products easily even if you don't have the time to cook up creams, etc, by buying readymade base products from aromatherapy suppliers, and simply adding the essential oils to them, so it's worth trying out.

Thumbs up

This all sounds great, but am too lazy and can't stand even walking past Lush - poo-ee! Have always fancied the look of that Neals Yard stuff though. Also - definitely a bit concerned about all the stuff I use - i also now use the micro-dermabrasion stuff, and olay skin renewal stuff at night, so have dreadful feeling all my skin's renewal ability will be used up by the time I hit forty!

Having said all that, loving the new olay moisturiser!
