Question Hydrogen Peroxide and/or Apple Cider Vinegar?

Anyone have any luck with these on their acne?

I'm going to pick up a bottle of each today and try it out for a few days.

I know people use apple cidar vinager as a toner with good results. It helps to dry pimples and reduces oiliness.

Hydrogen peroxide is not supposed to be good for the face as a daily toner because it produces free radicals.

I use to use rubbing alcohol on my face before I started solodyn. I had problems with my skin being really oily, so luckily for me, it didnt dry my skin out. some people may have that problem. I found that it helped somewhat..wasnt a lifesaver...but it did help dry out the acne a bit faster in conjunction with some other stuff. I never tried just peroxide though...

I'd only use that as a "spot" treatment, versus all over the face. Even if your skin is just dripping with oil, it's never good to completely strip the oil, by using a product such as alcohol or peroxide to use as a toner. It not only strips out the bad oil, but the good oil as well.

I'd stick with something like Clinique's Clairifying Lotion 3 or 4, or Elizabeth Arden's Oil Controlling Toner. Those have been great in the past for me :0)

I agree. I dont recommend to anyone to do what I did for their face. Not everyone is the same, and I was able to get away with doing it for a while. I was just desperate, and at the time, thats all that worked. I dont use lotions or anything on my face as it makes me too oily, even if its not supposed to. And suprisingly, I had more problems with actuall facial toners/astringints drying my face out more than rubbing alcohol.

I am also guilty of cleaning my face with rubbing alcohol... I did it all the time as a teen and never had any ill effects. All the toners I have tried seem to leave a weird residue or stickiness on my skin that I can't stand - so these days I skip any tone-type step. I just don't find it does anything for me.

I do still use rubbing alcohol on the hottest days of summer... I will rub it on my face and all over my arms and then stand in front of a fan. We live in California with no air condition... it's just a little indulgence for me.

I have read of people using and loving the ACV as a toner but... my concern would be, wouldn't you stink?? There is a site called www.makeupalley.com where you can read reviews of various products (Which include home remedies) and one of them is ACV as toner. Very well reviewed.

The site is weird, though. Sometimes I can view it but sometimes it tells me you need to be a member... and I don't feel like signing up.
