Default hydrosalpinx

Hello everyone, I hope you're all well

Ive just been diagnosed with having a hydrosalpinx, I think that how you spell it. I'm so upset about it, and very worried. It is on my right tube/ovary and is approx 5cm. Im so worried that ill be unable to conceive now. I have been reading about them and ive read that if not treated or removed, it can affect the other tube. Is this right, does anyone have any experience of this? I will have to wait for weeks just to get a gynae appointment, let alone have anything actually done about it.
PLease does anyone know more about this?

Thanks in advance

Claire

Do you have a RE? Can a Gyn treat this? I don't know much about it, I did a quick internet search. Please keep us posted.

I just had an HSG last week, and the Dr. said I had a hydro on one side. She said my doctor would explain what it all means on my follwo up. I didn't think that sounded all that bad, but when I got home and searched the net, there didn't seem to be any good news. I don't have a follow up apointment with my Dr. for another three weeks, so I'm trying not to get myself too worked up about it, but that's easier said than done!

When I found out I have PCOS, I decided I wasn't interested in doing any medical treatment, at least not yet. I thought it might be possible to get pregnant naturally if we wait long enough. Well now, if what I have read about the hydro is all true, we have to decide if we want to go ahead with IVF or not.

Good luck, and keep me posted!
Cheryl

1st I would definatly get a 2nd opion if you can. My past doctor thought I had a hydro when I didnt and thought my tubed was blocked when it wasnt. another doctor confirmed it wasnt. If you do have hydro what it is is fluid in the tube. I hear you can get pregnant still with it HOWEVER the chances go down alot because the fluid often acts as toxic to possible implantation or may cause the pregnancy not to stick. When I was told I had it I was told my only option was IVF and I would be better off removing the tube for better success rate at pg. GL

Thanks for your replies ladies. I will see a gynae first who will then probably refer me for a lap.

CHeryl123, like you, I didn't realise how bad it was until reading up about it online. The conclusion i've come to now is that if only one side is affected, then removing the damaged tube would be the best option for any chance of conceiving naturally. In fact, many people have reported to have conceived on their next cycle after the removal. However, I guess each individual case is different...

beautifulsoul, im shocked at them mis-diagnosing you! So what was it then after all? Mine is quite large so im assuming that it's a positive diagnosis...

I wish you all, all the best

Claire, I was thinking that my plan will be to have the one affected tube removed and see how things go naturally. Then if nothing happens maybe try IVF. But as soon as I go for my follow up and talk with the doctor about the results, I want to be ready to have the bad one removed. I feel better about the situation now than I did just after I was diagnosed. Now I've had some time to digest it all and come up with a bit of a plan. I guess I have to see what the doctor has to say about all of it first...

I had an HSG test done on 8/28 and I am waiting for the results of that test still. My dr did say that one of my tubes were dilated though ... after looking stuff up about that. I think that I may be in the same boat as some of you. I'm hoping that my dr gives me some positive answers on Thursday!! Good luck to all!!

Thanks! actually it was just misdiagnosed. I think honestly it was a cyst with fluid in it. Horrible experience I went to a horrible doctor the first time,w asnt explained the procedure, it was very rushed, etc..I hope things turn out fine for anyone experienceing this.
