Hi I am new to this site but came across your post and was wondering what it was. A lot of times if I dont eat, or dont eat a big lunch I become real shakey and my mind feels like I cant concentrate and alls I think about is getting something to eat once the shakes come on. and then other days I'm fine...it's weird! Any info would be nice..THX!
I have hyperinsulimia (hypoglycemia) I get shakey when I don't eat for long periods of time. my insulin level used to be 27 and now it is down to about 17. I am taking metformin and avandia.
wow I wish my level was at least 27 I have 143.7 where a regular persons insulin level would be 5.I've had hyperinsulimia for a really long time. I have a high risk of type 1 diabites because of it.

hi, I have only had my fasting insulin checked and it was OK (but my fasting levels are never the problem), but I make too much insulin in response to food/smells. I had a 5 hour GTT when I was 15, and my sugar bottomed out at 40 in the 4.5 hour. All they have ever told me was that I have to eat small meals/snacks, often during the day. You might also consider sipping protein shakes slowly during the day. Protein is your best friend. I am now diabetic, and on metformin, so my body will become more sensitive to my insulin, and maybe produce less. But I spent a LONG time cursing cinnabon, and the baking aisle at the grocery store. Just the smell of something sweet would cause hypoglycemia. I had to avoid any major carbs. Also, avoid caffeine in any form, it slingshots the effect. It is really a raw deal. all the excess insulin floating around makes your body think it is starving, so it tries to store as much fat as it can. Then any carb you eat makes you drop like a lead balloon later. if you eat carbs, it is a never ending vicous cycle of drops. SERIOUSLY limit your carbs, and balance with protein.
Yeah I am on a low carb, low sugar and high protien diet. I drink lots of lemon water during the day and that helps a bit. Thanks for the protien shake idea!

Hyperinsulinemia is reactive hypoglycemia (your body overproduces insulin to counterbalance a spike in glucose when you eat.) Over time, this damages your pancreas and can lead to Type II Diabetes. My grandmother was just diagnosed with Type II - and I quizzed her and she had hypoglycemia symptoms her whole life - just like I do

That sounds nearly identical to me - except replace 15 with 17 and 40 with 43 :p My maternal grandmother was type II diabetic and so is my father. I get so hungry sometimes I can't concentrate on anything else until I eat.
