Default hypo to hyper?

hi there...

was diagnosed with Hashi's in March. TSH was at 24 when I started on 50 mcg of Synthroid. First blood check it was down to 2.98. I was still symptomatic, so doctor upped synthroid to 75mcg. Just had next round of bloodwork done, and now TSH is .28 and I am hyper! Uck. My heart is racing non-stop. I've gone back to 50mcg now.

i guess i'm wondering where this is all going? i didn't feel "good" on 50 the first time, so why am I back to 50? I know - b/c apparently 75 is too much!

how long will it take to get out of this hyper state now? I hate having my heart pounding in my chest all the time. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your thyroid meds. Has your doctor checked your iron levels? If your iron is too low, you will have problems metabolizing the synthroid and it will make you hyper.

Pretty much the same thing happened to me. My TSH was 26 the first time they check it, with 50 it got down to 10ish and then with 75 it got down to 4 something. The doc was going to leave me there, but I still felt hypo so she put me on 100. I felt hyper on that. I did 88 for a while and felt good for several months. Then I started feeling hypo again when my TSH was 1 point something. I asked to be put on Armour and I feel really good on armour.

I was hyper but the doctor removed my thyroid becauseI wasn't eligible for rad. since I was still in child bearing years. I am now hypo and on 100mcg daily. Before my surgery my heart rate was between 170bpm to 190bpm.
