Default hypo symptoms at good numbers???

I have been having hypo symptoms for years (before the PCOS dx). I was recently dx as pre-diabetic/IR. My morning fasting numbers range from around 95-115. I bought a meter b/c I bottomed out so bad that I scared the doctors at my oncologists office. Unfortunately, we didn't have a meter to check it then. I have had hypo symptoms a few times over the last few weeks but my numbers are fine. They are in the 70s or 80s usually. I was feeling the "noodly" feel, headache, very moody, and not sweating yet but warm. My husband said to check my sugar level and it was 92! How is this possible to feel bad at 92?? Also, I was very hungry feeling. I had eaten well today and even had some fruit in the afternoon. (not too much) I opened the fridge and grabbed some cole slaw b/c I was SO hungry and just feeling worse. I will check it in a bit and see what my number is. I just don't get why I feel hypo at normal numbers. Any ideas?

Default

You can get hypo symptoms even when blood sugar is in normal range if you've had a big spike and resultant fast crash, or if your blood sugar is lower than is normal for YOU. The latter is especially common when dieting or when taking an IR med, such as Metformin. The former is common when eating a high carb diet. If that is the case, switching to a lower-glycemic way of eating (high fiber, moderate whole grains, lots of protein) can help a lot, as well as eating frequently throughout the day.
