Oh wow, initially that kind of shocked me (but I'm not taking hyponidd anymore), but this study states:
"No adverse events were noted in patients treated with hyponnid, except for one patient who had elevated liver enzymes":

Now the medical community (even a Dr. from India) can take one adverse event with one patient & run with it & make it appear like users are dropping like flies from liver failure - when it was just one patient. Elevated liver enzymes does not necessarily equal "liver damage". Was this patient an alcoholic for instance? Would a study patient admit that? Or perhaps taking previous rx's that caused liver problems (even Met can do this). Taking other herbs that may have caused problems, or too high doses of Hyponidd. There are too many possible scenarios.
If you are on hyponnid you can always have your liver enzymes checked on occasion to be safe. Heck, I'd like them to show the comparison between what rx meds do to our liver/kidneys in comparison to herbs!! Herbs are alot safer when taken within recommended doses. In fact, I usually take 1/2 the dose or less than recommended because I am so sensitive to everything.
