Hypothyroid?
Would a hypothyroid problem possibly cause a lump in the throat area?

If you have a goiter, yes. Goiter is swelling of the thyroid gland, and you can have a nodule which feels (is) a lump on the thyroid gland itself. There can be multiple nodules as well.
Are you supping iodine?
