This may be long thanks for any advice .I will start at the begin .After I had my son three years ago I lost a lot of weight like 50 lbs in 6 weeks then I gain 100lbs in a year my old Gp kept telling that I was depressed but I felt there was something else wrong so after 3 years of feeling like crap I switch doctors my new doctor run a thyroid panel my TsH was 4.46 Range of .5-5.5 I still felt bad so she sent me to a Endo the said my TSH is fine and said I have pcos did some blood work and put me on Met. The endo never rechecked my tsh .The endo basically said that I felt bad because I 'm over weight to lose some weight and I would feel better .so I lost 19 lbs. and I still am so tried I can not think no matter how much sleep I get my hair is still falling out at this rate I'm going to need a wig . From what I read the new guidelines for TSH are .3-3.0 I don't dout that I have pcos but I have to wonder if I 'm also hypot .So I have a appointment on Monday and I'm not sure if I should press the thyroid issues ? When I last saw the Endo I left feeling confused because I went for one thing and came out with a different diagnose all tougher .Any thoughts ???

Yes you should press the thyroid issue. My TSH almost a year ago was 2.98 and I was feeling like crap. Only 3 months later, it went up to 7.89 and officially was dx'd with hypothyroid. Yesterday I was dx'd with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. So imagine if I hadnt gone to get my TSH drawn yet again back in Feb?
The new guidelines are up to 3.0. Anything above 3.0, people usually feel the worst. It's 1.0 that they usually feel their best. After my 7.89 TSH result, my GP put me on 50mcg of Synthroid (one of the lower doses) and my latest TSH reading back in July was 1.79. Not a 1.0 but much better than before. I would definitely talk about hypothyroid again and if they dont listen, go somewhere else. It's worth it to not feel like crap all the time.
Another thing... are you insulin resistant? I was dx'd with hyperinsulinemia which basically means my body is not as sensitive to insulin as it should be and lets out WAY too much insulin than it should. After I eat anything with carbs or too much sugar, I feel like crap... very tired, no energy etc. I am starting the South Beach diet and am on 2000mg Metformin a day. It might be something to try, it may make you feel better as far as energy and not being so tired. Good luck to you!

When I had my blood work done for the endo there must of been a standing order for a TSH because it was not mark on my sheet and he hadn test results but now I;m more confused becase it went from 4.46 to .58 .So he is just going to keep a eye on it .

You may have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. With that, you will swing from being hypo to hyper (your TSH results show that). Hypo and hyper have some similar symptoms - hair loss, tiredness - so it is difficult to detect. Please do some research on Hashi's on the net and then ask your doctor to test your antibodies. Also, if he hasn't checked it, have him check your iron levels and Vitamin D. Iron deficiency can cause hair loss.
I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling so horrible. I was recently diagnosed with Hashi's, but I have been feeling like garbage for a long time now. Like you, I have been very confused and incredibly frustrated and angry. What gets me the most is the inability of many endocrinologists to diagnose people with thyroid disease accurately and treat them until they say they feel better.
There is a great web forum for thyroid disease with people who know much more about what might be happening with you than I do. You'll read many stories similar to yours. http://www.realthyroidhelp.com
I am being looked at for Cushing's disease as I write this, but that is a very rare disease. I only mention this because you wrote that you had a huge weight gain in one year and that is something that happens to you when you have Cushing's.
I know it is a lot to think about when you don't feel well. Hang in there and keep looking for answers! You are worth it!
