Angry Hypothyroid and No Help

My name is Tisha. I have been diagnose with PCOS and am currently taking Metformin for it. I have been on it for about 30+ days and am feeling better then what I use to feel. When I went to see a doctor about it and got my blood work done, my TSH level came up at 4. The scale that is used is (0.05-5.5) so for me, I see my level as a bit on the high end of things. When I saw a endo about my PCOS I also spoke with him about my thyroid. My thyroid level use to be 2.0 and has risend by .5 over the last 3 years it seems. I have been to two doctors about this but each one keeps givng me the same response which is, lets take more blood test and see if that is where you still are, and your still within the normal range. No one seems to listen to how I feel or what's going on with my body. I know I saw earlier on in a posting somewhere or where you can buy Armour without a prescrip, does anyone have that site address again, please email it to me at trinitymatrix@earthlink.net I don't know what else to do, the area I live in a small and they're arent to many doctors around that deal with these things. I feel that at 4, im having problems and would like to get mine back down to 2 or even 1.5. I even asked the doctor today, what would it hurt, it can't make it worse, only better, but he still wouldn't do anything about it, except to order more blood work. Now he is doing a TSH, T4, T3 and a anitbodies test as well as a full blood count, he thinks im anemic even though I had this tested 8/1 and was diagnosed as not being so. Any advice?

Hiya. I had the same problem. My doctor just wanted to "keep an eye on it". Luckily i went to another doctor in the same practice and she tested me again and then put me on Thyroxine. If i hadnt have gone to her i dont know what would have happened. I also wanted to buy Armour on the net. I did put up a post about it ,but no-one seems to know where to get it from.My advice would be to keep at it. Learn loads and maybe even print some stuff off and take it to your docs to read. I was only borderline at the time , but i felt really rough.
Good luck
Karen

Hi. i`m not sure what my tsh level is. I always forget to make a note. Although, last time i went my endo said my thyroid had totally failed. I wasnt taking any meds at the time because i was having bad problems with it. That`s why i`m really keen to try Armour. I was also going to order from mexmeds, but i posted about it on the about.com site and someone there said that it isnt the same. Apparently it has alot more t3 than armour. So, that put me off a bit. Make sure you are really carefull about it, won`t you? Have you been on the about.com website? It has some good thyroid info.
Best wishes
Karen

Angry pcos hypothyroid what ever next

Hi I was diagnoses with pcos about 10 years ago, but I have not had any treatment for it.
I recently went to my nurse for some more pill and she noted my BP was very high and that I had the look of Hypothoyroidism, whatever the look is. Any way she asked if I would mind having a blood test. Which of course I was happy to go along with. The results were in 10 days later. The nurse was shocked when she called me, as she has never seen results so high, thyroid level 10.9 and Antibodies 519.
So as you can guess I am now on Thyroxine. But I have only been taking them for three weeks now, there does not seem to be anything happening, apart from a few palpitations but I have been assured that that is my body getting used to the thyroxine.
Well you never know I may be that size 16 some day. Perhaps the dream may become a reality one day.

Hope this has helped someone like the sight has helped me.

England UK are a bit behind the times as far as pcos is concerned.

hi,

I had the same problem. Endo said it was subclinical hypothyroidism and that putting me on meds could make it better or worse. When i was initially diagnosed 2 years ago my gp put me on a high dose of thyroid hormones which my endo didn't approve of. Now my TSH has gone from 4.2 to 1 with the help of a naturopath who put me on a natural supplement called BMR(contains copper, zinc, bovine pituitary extract, iodine, L-tyrosine). Hope this helps, may be something to consider.

Anemia often accompanies hypothyroidism. There is a link with information stating how iron-deficient anemia can seem to cause hypothyroid symptoms:

ny28- - Have you looked on the about.com site? If you look under T you will find a site run by Mary Shannon and it deals with Thyroid "stuff". There is a UK section and there is a forum as well.It is like this site (also good ), but just dealing with Thyroid issues. You will be able to find answers to specific questions and there are some very knowledgable people on there (the same as here). I use both sites depending on which condition is playing me up the most at the time. lol. It`s worth knowing about , if you dont already.
Best wishes
Karen
