Am confused and wanted to know if anyone else have been in this situation.
I was diagnosed with hypothyroid in 07 and for the past 6-8 months the hypothyroidism is under control and am presently on 100mcg levothyroxin. However when I went to my OB as I had only 2 AF's in one year I was diagnosed with PCOS and prescribed 1000mg of metformin (as I wanted to start to TTC) in 08 nov.
I got my 1st AF in feb after being on met for 2 1/2 months and my 2nd AF in mar after 34 days (which was how my cycles were before I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism). I was on clomid 100mg on both AF cycles.
Now comes the confusion as the results from the hypothyroid blood work shows that my T4 levels are high (13.9, normal should be with in 10), T3 is 146 and TSH is 1.03 ( both are within the normal range). So now my doc (he's not a RE) is thinking on reducing my dosage of levothyroxine but I heard that during pregnancy the T3 and T4 levels will increase? (Spoke to my sisters, who are both docs themselves). One of my sister who is a OB said that only if the TSH goes up ahe will adjust the dose and thinks that I should wait to see if my AF does show up next week and then take a HPT if it does not show up.
My questions to everyone and anyone who has hypothyroidism and have been or are pregnent are
I have recently been diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism and PCOS and also TTC, however my GP only wanted to put me onto Thyroxin until my thyroid was stable, which happened in Feb, and I have since been referred to a Gynae who I have seen several times and he is sending me for a blood test to determine if I am ovulating before prescribing any further medication.
So, I can't answer your questions, but wanted you to know there are others out there in the same situation.
Also, since I am new to this site, what does AF and RE stand for? Is there a glossary anywhere on this site?
I can see why your Dr wants to lower your Levo...your body is doing a really good job of making T4 from the T3. Lower the T3 (Levo) and you lower the T4. If your TSH becomes too low, you'll go hyper and have all sorts of s/e, including making it harder to conceive. I think your levo should be lowered slightly, maybe by 12mcg...and once you get that BFP, got back up to your current dosage at least. Bottom line, I agree with your dr. Best wishes!

Lovemychris, Thans for the reply. I will have to talk with my GP as (Now for the good news ladies{Hope it stays the same.}) I did a HPT (used e.p.t ) and I got a positive However I have tested 3 days before my AF data, which is supposed to showup on 24th og this month so will retest on 24th morn again.
Am confused about calling up my ob/gyn and my RE without confirming. I read on the internet that e.p.t gives a lot of false positives (hope its not true in my case. will keep everyone updated.
Hi everyone,
I did do three more HPt's (21st nite, 22 morning and 24th morning (the day AF was supposed to show up)) and all three were positive. So totally I did 4 HPT's and all were positive. However I am not having any pregnecy symptoms no nausea, no tirdness, no hunger, no breast tenderness nothing and this is worrying me.
Congrats! Thats awesome! Well I've never been pregnant, but from what I have read every woman is different. I'd definately call your doctor and have them do the accurate blood tests, but I'm sure everything is ok...Congrats again! Please keep us updated, it is great to hear success stories!
