Question Hysrerectomy

Hi Ladies

Does anyone here know if having a Hysteretomy will reduce or get rid of the symptoms of PCOS.

I know i'm only 24 and only been married for 4 months but we're fairly certain we can't have children and after longs talks, fairly certain that we don't want to.

I just thought it might be worth looking into it. If I do make the final descision that I don't want to try for kids, it seems pointless to continue suffering with PCOS if there is another way.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Take care all

Kat

I think a hysterectomy should be the LAST thing you do. I don't think it changes the PCO symptoms.
And who told you you "can't " have children????? If it's because of PCO, that's a lie!!!! Look at all the women on this board!!!!

PCOS is an endocrine disorder. Therefore, a hysterectomy will do nothing to help PCOS symptoms. The only thing I can think of that a hysterectomy would help is if the cysts on your ovaries are causing lots of pain. The problem does not start with your ovaries. It starts because your insulin, which is a hormone, is all out of whack. If your insulin is out of whack, it causes all the other hormones in your body to be out of whack, which in turn, causes the cysts on your ovaries and all the other lovely symptoms that we PCOS women have to deal with.

I hope this makes sense to you.

Best wishes!

Thumbs down

Hi

I had a hysterectomy in 2000 because I also suffered from Endometriosis and was in a lot of pain. Apart from logging irregular periods, nothing with the PCOS changes!!!
