Has anyone had a hystorectomy due to their pcos? Does anyone know pros and cons of such an act?
I was diagnosed in 2004 and have tried several different treatments. I am proud to say that I'm 37 wks pregnant and we are excited about the impending birth of our second son. We are however, in agreement that this is it for us. No more children. After several miscarriages and the complications with this pregnancy we are happy with our two and don't want to go thru this again. Since no more babies are an issue, what about removal of my polycycstic ovary? (I only have one. I lost the other with one of the miscarriages - ectopic.) Anyone have any ideas????
Getting of your ovaries won't get rid of PCOS unfortunately. It is believed by many that the underlying cause of PCOS is insulin resistance and that if you get rid of your ovaries you'll still have the hormones messed up from the insulin resistance. That said though, some people ARE diagnosed with PCOS and NOT having insulin resistance but from most things I've read it seems like it really might be the underlying cause. I would definitely talk to your doctor about it before making any decisions.
I agree. There are several ladies on this site who have had a hyster. Some say it took away their monthly cramps and contant bleeding. Other said they seemed to have worse problems after a hyster or a tubal.
