Talking I actually think this shampoo is working!!!

http://www.cutndry.com/murad.htm

I went to buy some nioxin cuz i'd read about it here. The girl in the hair shop said i might like to try murad instead, it was cheaper and more natural, and the owner of her shop swore by it...so i got it. OMG!!! my receeding hairline is fuzzy again!!

Now maybe it has to do with postpartum hormones getting under control again, but still...the shampoo makes my head tingle and oh boy, i definately notice a difference!! She said the hairspray is the only one they use on customers now, and i bought for 20 bucks the shampoo...i'm going back for the conditioner!

Thanks for posting this. My hair has been thinning out big time, I'm so upset about it. I know this sounds silly, but does the shampoo encourage hair to grow anywhere else besides the scalp!?! Last thing I need is more hair anywhere else. Maybe I should inquire about a hair transplant...yah, they can take all the excess hair follies off of my body and transplant them onto my scalp lol.

Take care

You say "post partum" .. so I am assuming you hav just had a baby within the last year ... its is VERY common for women to loss large amounts of hair after a baby some even go near bald !!!! in that case the new hairs are just natural regrowth ..!!!!! I cannot see how a shampoo can help wiht male pattern baldness etc .... otherwise there would be no balding women !! my endo, derm etc have all said the same .. get your hormnes in line and the only thing the ONLY thing that can regrow hair (if your lucky enoguh for it to work) is Regaine !!

You're right. As long as your hormones are in the male range, if you've got the testosterone receptors on your scalp and face, then you'll respond in the same sort of way as a male. Hence beard growth and male pattern balding (from temples and crown). Not necessarily to quite the same extent as a male, because we're likely to have a bit more estrogen.

I've never had an issue with dramatically thinning hair, but my hairdresser did notice after I had Owen (about 7 months later) that I had a tonne of new hair growing. I thought my hair was just breaking horribly. It's a couple of inches long now and looks like it's staying. She said that she's seen that in a lot of women after pregnancy (long after the post-partum hair loss, which is just the hair that didn't fall out during pregnancy falling out).

I know, the pp hairloss scared the crap out of me...i actually called my doc but before i got the appt the fuzz started growing already, i guess i just know where my hair was thin Before my pregnancy, and there is definately a bit more fullness to it. i have a high forehead anyway, but i have never had this much 'fuzzgrowth' under my bangs before...I think this shampoo stuff works well if there is already the potential for hair growth, not follicle growth i guess...the reason i liked this stuff was cuz its less chemically then the nioxin (well at least thats what she said ) ) it is supposed to stimulate the scalp more then the hair i think...

Yes, I've male pattern baldness -- receding at the temples. Not too much loss at the crown yet. It does show when the wind blows, but most of the rest of the time it's not too obvious. Actually, I don't think the wider world quite realises that receding at the temples is male pattern, just that it's a bit unusual. I'm getting to look very like one of my uncles, though -- scary!

I have had the same fantasy about the transplant. Great minds think alike.

Since I cannot use Nizoral, because it specifically says not to use it on my migraine medication's literature(Relpax), I was wondering if anyone has any update on this shampoo.

Since completely changing my diet the last part of December 07 I have seen regrowth of hair. I am also having my first cycle in over six months! It's the brownish stuff, but it's something. I would love to see a decrease in chin and lip hair though. I get tired of plucking every freakin' day. Sheesh. I get tempted to shave, but I sure don't want the situation to get any worse than it already has.

Wow Sheryl - so your diet change has affected your scalp hairgrowth?

I guess it's a just lots of veggies / fruit and cutting back on bad carbs and sugar? any tips?

thanks x

Congratulations! I recently bought some shampoo that is supposed to support hair growth and your story has given me hope.

Question Female Pattern?

My Dermatologist said that I have female pattern hair loss.. Is this better or worse then male pattern, or does it even matter? My Dermatologist also said the chances of the growing back was slim to none... So much for sensitivity, she did give me tissues when I started bawling..

My hair has been thinning for quite awhile but it was pretty thick to start off with, however I can see my scalp which never has happened before.

Also, I am confused at what to look at for new hair growth.. I see some hairs toward my hairline that are shorter than the others, however I am not sure if that is just breakage.

I am been using Nioxin for the last few months, but my hair is so dry. I will take a look at the Murad shampoo. I use some of their face products, so I am confortable with the brand.

Thanks for the info!
