Is it still possible that I have this even though my doc says no? Does your bloodwork have to be abnormal to be considered to have PCOS? I just feel like I have this and and screaming inside for help.

hi brookie,
when i went to my dr. he told me that he thought i had this. he said i will check your blood, do u/s and i can tell from doind a visual we will see something. ( i have hair on my chin if i dont tweeze, painful acne, and my hair was falling out) i was sad when my blood tests came back a little hight but still in the normal range. but he still said i had it regardless of blood. because i had not had a period in months we had no idea where i was on my cycle so i could have had more female hormones than ususal. i really think you should look for a doc who knows his pcos and have him make the decision. it took 5 docs and 3 years for them to put my high blood sugar, hair loss, acne, huge belly, and hair on my face into one syndrom. hold tight and it will all work out!

We went several years where we didn't prevent. Once we actually started trying it wasn't too long. I think we tried w/o medical help for about six months, and then moved on to Clomid and I got PG on my first cycle of Clomid.

What do you mean by "started trying" I have been not preventing it for 8 months and nothing...Did you do any ovulation tests or anything like that? Did you have to go see a fertility doctor to get the Clomid? I am currently on Metformin 4 pills at dinner...and maybe i need to try something different...

desiree84,
you may have to have your husband checked as well. I quit using birth control in 2001 and we never got prego. i always thought it was me because of pcos, but found out that my husband also has low sperm count and that is the reason.

That is frustrating. Sometimes it's almost relieving to just have a name to give to what you're going through so you aren't left thinking it is just the new normal.

I went through that also. i was unofficially diagnosed in 1995, 13 years ago. I was told i may have pcos and take BCP'S. nobody told me about carbs, weight loss or anything. back then BCP's was like this miracle drug. in reality they were just a way to shut up a bunch of women whose main symptom was the absence of a menstrual period. Anyway, as time went on Dr after insensitive DR told me there was nothing they could do, just take the bcp's. TODAY, I M 32 years old, 266 PDS(i was 285) i take medicine for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, of course metformin, and ativan for anxiety. i have severe acne, the biggest stomach, excessive hairgrowth, and a occasional period. i said all this to say..........dont let those basterds break you. keep going until you get the correct diagnose, many of them dont care, they stereotype. in their minds were just fat, lazy hypochondriacs, but there wrong. we are women, an we will be heard!!!! Goodluck!!!!!!!!!!
