8) Do you find your doctors to be competent? some of them
1) How old were you when you were diagnosed? 16 (should have been 15)
2) How old were you when the symptoms began? i think about 9, 10
3) What symptoms do you have?
Hair
weight gain
slighly irregular periods
acne
4) What rememdies to you use:
1500 of met, exerise hopefully spiro soon, and any air removal methods i can find
5) Do you have any side effects of the symptoms: not as of yet
6) How has this impacted your self esteem? i have very low self esteem
7) Were you teased as a child? i guess so, mainly because of the weight
8) Do you find your doctors to be competent?
not to begin with i've changed my doctors because of their lack of knowledge and i belive lack of profesionalizm (sp?)
1) How old were you when you were diagnosed? 25 yrs old
2) How old were you when the symptoms began? 8 yrs old - weight problems;13 yrs old - irregular periods
3) What symptoms do you have? Irregular periods, acne, oily skin, overweight, excessive body hair, infertility, hypothyroidism
4) What rememdies to you use, I.E. meds, excercise, face waxing... I take 500 mg Glucophage XR, 75 mg of Levoxyl, I use hair clippers to get rid of the excessive hair on the sides of my face - for infertility 50 mg clomid
5) Do you have any side effects of the symptoms, I.E. Depression, Diabetes... I have mood swings. I'm usually an upbeat person, but there are times when I feel frustrated w/my weight and the acne
6) How has this impacted your self esteem? Many times I feel like the fattest, ugliest woman in the world. I've always had a big face, so the hairy double-chin with a side order of acne doesn't help any. My lack of confidence in my physical appearance is holding me back professionally. I feel since I don't "look" the part, I shouldn't even try for promotions.
7) Were you teased as a child? Yes, I started becoming overweight around 8 yrs old. My maiden name is Sizemore and the kids used to call me "more size". As a teenager I remember this really cute guy telling me, "You're a WHALE of a friend".
8) Do you find your doctors to be competent? Yes, I'm fortunate to have competent doctors - now. When I was 17 yrs old - displaying all the classic signs, my mom took me to the doctor. We were military and they did a pelvic exam, vaginal ultrasound, and some other tests, but didn't dx anything. I was then taken to a civilian doctor who put me on birth control pills and told me it was normal for teenagers to have irregular periods but, "not to worry; when you get married and have a baby, everything will straighten out." That was his official diagnosis. Hmm....well since I have infertility issues, I guess I won't get "straightened out" anytime soon.

I'm gonna stop looking back and starting moving on
And learn how to face my fears
Love with all of my heart, make my mark
I wanna leave something here
Go out on a ledge, without any net
That's what I'm gonna be about
Yeah, I wanna be running
When the sand runs out
