i suppose it just gets absorbed by the body and acts systemically but avoids the first pass effect. So maybe more actually gets into the body? I am not sure how much BC is metablolized by the liver but I imagine that it would be some.

Anyway, I feel normal. No side effects so far except I can tell it's a diuretic1

what? really? you just pop it up there? shocking, never heard of this! as for the side effects it took anout 3 months before i was unwell, i think if you survive 3 months on any medication and nothing goes wrong you're sorted! it wasn't an immediate thing it took ages for me to gradually realise something wasn't right.

Well, so far so good for me! It's only been 6 days and I've already lost some weight... well, not weight coz I dont weigh myself anymore, but my clothes feel a little looser and my friend said out of the blue that for some reason (she doesn't know I'm on them) I look much healthier... specifically that my face doesn't look puffy today. I was like "Huh? My face used to look puffy? Oh, that's just marvellous!" LOL At least I didnt realise it at the time I guess
    So, onwards and upwards!

Yip I have just stopped taking Yasmin as after a few years I started getting Migranes which gradually got worse... I have not taken a BCP for a month now and the migranes are gone although I have a mega bloated tummy and no period. I also put on weight gradually with Yasmin.

Doctor has prescribed me a mini pill but i am really hesitant about taking it as I read you have to take within the same hour every day and my memory is rubbish I'd be bleeding all over the place!

    Hi,
I just bumped into this website and am glad to know that I'm not alone in this PCOS-phobic journey.
I was diagonized with PCOS on March 2005 ( but now thinking back, I had the symptoms for almost 2 years ). The doctor put me on Diane-35 for 3 months, the hormone level was still very less. So now she has put me on Yasmine for another 3 months, will start taking Yasmine from next week. Reading all the good effects of this pill from all of u has made me more hopeful. So at this moment I'm just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best!

I have been on Yasmin for about 9 months now and I have not had any problems with it. I noticed the first month I took it significant changes in everything. My acne went away, my skin and hair is no longer oily, I lost 7 pounds the first two months. The only downfall was that it made me pee a lot. I have never had a bad case of hirsutism but I did have a mild case and that even went away. I feel as though my body may be adjusting to the hormones because I stopped seeing improvements. We will see if anything else changes over the next few months.

I've been on Yasmin for 3 weeks too, and so far so good. I had a couple of days in the first week of unusual happenings, lol, but since then it's been steady going and only great effects. I'm losing weight and feel so much better mentally and emotionally that there's no comparison. Yay! lol
Frantic, when you say your mild hirsutism went away, do you mean new hair that had grown in new places disappeared again? I read somewhere that once a hair follicle is stimulated to start growing hair that it's virtually impossible to switch it off again - that mostly you can only slow the growth rate... so if yours went away all together, that's great!!

hey ladies! i have been on diane for the last 8 months, but am back in the US now, where I can't purchase it.

my biggest concern is hair loss and regrowing the hair i have lost...does anyone have any experience with yasmin with this?

Hi, I'm starting Yasmin in a week, my endo just 'positively' confirmed PCOS yesterday. Diane 35 helps some, but I'm hoping the spiro in Yasmin helps. I also hope it can even things out and get this depression under control (bcp's have never made my depression worse, so hopefully this won't). I just want to feel better.
