Does anyone else have this problem? I weigh more - than I look like I weigh! Not that its a bad thing or anything like that - but I guess I am just wondering why this is? and if anyone else experiences this? I have had so many people tell me this! When I go to the Doctors office - they usually put the scale around the 150 mark.......and then look surprised when they need to keep raising it and raising it. What would cause this? Do any of you cysters out there ever experience this? I know it could be worse (the opposite) so I'm not really complaining - just curious why this might be? Is this a PCOS thing?
People used to guess around 180 when I was really around 220! I've since lost weight and my new doctor has an electronic scale, so I don't know how much they think I weigh now. As a medical student that has taken countless patients' stats, it's sometimes hard to guess people's weight, and I would rather guess less than insult someone by guessing they weigh more than the really do.

People guess my weight wrong all the time, and I figure it is because it is all in my belly, When I dress in a way that disguises it, you would never guess 187lbs. I have arms and legs like my size 7 friends, and a belly like a 7mos pregnant lady!

I have always weighed more than I look with me it is because I am really muscular and muscle weighs more than fat now don't get me wrong I have the dreaded pcos belly and am not nearly as athletic as I used to be but my arms and legs and back muscles are all still really built when I was figure skating every one would guess I weighed around 110 when in actuality I weighed closer to 170. Its all in how you carry your weight and in how your body is made up and your frame size a lot of factors go into your body's appreanace
I get that comment all the time - I think what really changed for me was dropping 45 pounds a year or so ago and most of it came from my face. I too have the dreaded PCOS belly - so everyone is shocked to hear me say I weigh xyz. It is kind of refreshing to hear someone be truly shocked that you weigh as much as you do I guess....LOL

Hi ladies - this is also me...I have the PCOS belly but luckily I look in proportion and I'm quite toned now so when I tell people how much I weigh
t, they look at me in shock! I am officially obese on the BMI chart!

Oh - I see. I use to be in the health care field as well.....I use to work in surgery. That is fantastic that you are pursuing a degree as a Doctor. Congratulations! I see that you have a toy poodle as well!!!! I use to have a apricot toy poodle....toy poodles are the best.
Thanks regarding the info. about weight. I didn't know whether I actually did look like I weighed less or not? Congratulations on your weight loss! I've lost 100 lbs - with more to go....but much closer to my goal weight now. I am actually happy that people think I weight less or at least give the illusion that they think I do. Its better that way than the oppposite - right!?
Take Care~ Good luck in medical school!

Ditto! So you know what I mean! Thats exactly what I experience. Most of my friends and family think I weigh less as well! Maybe it has to do with weight distribution? I don't know?? But it seems like it is possibly a PCOS thing? It doesnt just happen when I go to the doctors office...but elsewhere as well.

I have had this happen to me too. But i think the people are trying to be nice. My MIL has been telling me for 6 or 7 year now almost everytime she sees me That im the perfect size and that I dont need to gain or lose and weight. And in 6 to 7 years i have gained 20 pounds and it does show. I have a PCOS belly too.

My fiancee thought I was around the 170-180 range for the longest time but then he seen my chart at the DR's office and seen that I weighed 254lbs. I dont look my weight at all. I would love to be down to 170-180 though....lol....

I hear ya! If I eat something salty.....forget it!!!!!!!!!! Especially if I eat something salty before that time of month. I will blow up like a puffer fish!!! I don't know what it is - but my body just doesnt seem to process salt very well at all! Its usually on those days when I KNOW I am looking really bloated and I'll ask someone, "Do I look like I've gained weight"? and if they say, "No - you look good"! I'll think to myself....yeah - and I supposed to believe that!! Lol!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess they just try to be sweet though.
